In yet another case of unethical conduct by an IT company, 3Gen Consulting in Pune has been found to deduct salaries of 400 employees.

Based on the complaints filed, the Labour Commissioner has issued a notice to the company, ordering them to roll back this deduction or face action.

3Gen Consulting Deducts Salaries Of 400 Employees

3Gen Consulting is a consulting and outsourcing company specializing in healthcare, covering processes such as medical coding and more.

As per information available, they have suddenly reduced and deducted salaries of 400 employees, located out of their Pune campus.

Since Govt of Maharashtra has clearly issued a notification that during the lockdown, no employer shall deduct any salary of employees, or terminate them from the jobs, this is a clearly a breach of that notification, and unethical course of action.

Employees Complain To NITES

NITES or National Information Technology Employees Senate is a nonprofit devoted for helping IT employees. After several employees complained to NITES, they shot a letter to the Labour Commissioner highlighting this issue.

In the letter, NITES said, “The company has also notified the employees that the salary will reduce with immediate effect jobs of more than 400 employees is at risk. The company directions, rules and regulations.”

Labour Commissioner Office Issues Notice

Based on the complaints, the office of Labour Commissioner has issued a notice to 3Gen Consulting, over this matter.

In the letter, 3Gen Consulting has been asked to withdraw this decision of deducting salaries of employees during the lockdown, and have warned of action if this is not implemented.

We spoke with NITES General Secretary Harpreet Singh Saluja, and he said that no company can deduct any salary of the employees during the lockdown, and this action by 3Gen Consuting is deporable.

He expressed his belief that 3Gen Consulting will take back their decision, and help 400 employees in this critical phase.
