Facebook To Launch Messenger Rooms: A New Video Conferencing Platform

Many employees and organizations are opting for video conferencing apps for conducting meetings and getting in touch with their colleagues. Zoom, Google Duo, Hangouts are some popular apps for this.

Not one to stay behind is Mark Zuckerberg led Facebook, which has launched Messenger Rooms with a valiant effort to tap into this market. This platform will allow anyone to make a video call to up to 50 people and is developed on Facebook’s Messenger app.

The app imitates many a feature from the popular apps and services and is some sort of a gateway to a future where WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger will be merged. This app will allow users of three of the world’s largest messaging networks to chat with people cross-platform.

Messenger Room To Be Created Via Messenger, Instagram Direct, WhatsApp

As per reports, Messenger Rooms is probably the first attempt by Facebook about a cross-platform messaging inside its services. There have been subtle discussions about how the platform would appear, the challenges that it will need to overcome, etc.

Through Messenger Rooms, anyone will be able to chat with others only if they have a Facebook account. As of now, Messenger Rooms can be created through Facebook or Messenger alone. But Facebook is working on ways to do the same through Instagram Direct, WhatsApp, and Portal, also.

WABetaInfo, WhatsApp’s website that tracks the beta software, guessed the first few hints of one of the ways how Facebook may be planning to use Messenger Rooms to integrate WhatsApp and Messenger soon enough. As per the website, the WhatsApp beta version for Android 2.20.139 will come with a shortcut to Messenger Rooms links. There will also be an option in the calls tab and also when you try to call someone. After this, you will be directed to Messenger to create the room.
