Will Tata Goshaq be the Next-Gen Tigor Or Tigor’s Replacement?

According to a recent report, Tata Goshaq might draw design influence from the HBX concept based forthcoming Hornbill micro SUV, Sierra and Tigor.

Meanwhile the report does not state whether the Tata Goshaq will replace the Tigor or be a brand new model.

As of now, Tata sells only the Tigor in the subcompact sedan segment and the Zest, after 5 years in production, is no more. Both the sedans are based on Indica’s X1 architecture. However, the Tigor is more modern by adorning Impact Design philosophy.

The Tigor experienced a facelift earlier in 2020 along with Tiago hatchback and Nexon and its lifecycle will be expanded into the near future.

If the assumptions are correct, the Tata Goshaq can be a replacement to the Tigor or it could be sold alongside the Tigor for some time until the demand exists for the latter in the private buyer as well as fleet aggregator spaces.

Details of Tata Goshaq and Upcoming Launches!

The Altroz premium hatchback was the first to be armed with the  ALFA platform and its modular and flexible nature meant that different body types, sizes and powertrains can be accommodated.

Tata Motors is relying on ALFA platforms for the upcoming sedan as well. It caters to volume-based products and it will play an integral role in Tata achieving its aim of addressing the left out mass-market segments. The homegrown manufacturer will be relying on ALFA and OMEGA platforms to be equipped in their future models.

When Tata Goshaq arrives, it will stay in accordance with the latest iteration of Impact Design philosophy existing during that period. The Tata Goshaq could be part of Tata’s launch time frame in end 2021 or the following year.

The sedan is presumed to be powered by the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol or perhaps the rumored 1.0-litre turbo three-cylinder direct-injected petrol engine that is said to be under development. It is expected to offer both five-speed manual and five-speed AMT transmissions. Tata Goshaq might also carry an electric drivetrain in the future.

It is speculated that Tata Motors’ new sedan Tata Goshaq might be a competition to its rival Maruti Suzuki Dzire!

Tata will be introducing the seven-seater Gravitas based on the Harrier next and it will be followed by the HBX (Hornbill) micro SUV presumably towards the end of 2020.
