Since last 48 hours, there was intense confusion and chaos, regarding the ecommerce deliveries. But now, it seems that a clarity has been received.

Bengaluru, Delhi and other major cities have announced that all ecommerce deliveries will be allowed, albeit, only for essential items.

The Confusion Of Online Deliveries

Ever since PM Modi announced the lockdown, there was ambiguity regarding online orders, and their deliveries: While Govt informed that all essential goods and services will be available, there was no mention of ecommerce deliveries.

While initially, some reports came that online orders and ecommerce deliveries will be allowed, we reported several instances wherein delivery boys were beaten by the cops, and were stopped from delivering their products.

Infact, one of the grocery app had to dump 11,000 litres of milk, and 10,000 kgs of vegetables, as all deliveries were halted.

Yesterday, Delhi Police first allowed the online deliveries, but then later on, withdrew the order.

Delhi, Bengaluru Allows ECommerce Deliveries

Today morning, Delhi Police once again issued a new order, and said that all ecommerce deliveries will be allowed. This includes Swiggy, Zomato, Flipkart, Amazon, Dunzo, Bigbasket, Grofers, Urban Clap, Milkbasket, Big Bazar, Snapdeal, Faaso’s, Pizza Hut, Pharmeasy and others.

Similarly, Bengaluru police too has informed that they will allow all ecommerce deliveries. Their order includes  Zomato, Flipkart, Amazon, Swiggy, Grofers, Supr Daily, Licious, Ola Eats, and more.

Hence, consumers can now order essential items, such as groceries, and vegetables from Big Basket, Grofers and other products from Amazon and Flipkart.

Police will not stop them.

Maharashtra, which had imposed Section 144 in the entire state days before PM Modi announced complete lockdown, has already allowed ecommerce deliveries in all major cities including Pune and Mumbai.

However, a new challan based system is being implemented, for all delivery boys and delivery staff of ecommerce portals, and other grocery shops.

During the lockdown, these delivery executives will need to have a delivery challan, to get the seamless pass across all barricades. In Bengaluru, such delivery passes can be taken from 8 Deputy Commissioners of Police.
