Coronavirus: Railways Admit Blankets Aren’t Washed Daily; Every Rail Passenger Will Be Screened, Tested For Coronavirus

In a stunning admission, Indian Railways has informed the nation that blankets provided in AC coaches are not washed daily.

This is actually surprising.

Meanwhile in Kerala, every rail passenger will be now screened and tested for coronavirus.

Indian Railways: Don’t Use Blankets In Trains!

Indian Railways has informed the passengers that blankets are not cleaned everyday. And have suggested that passengers should now bring their own blankets for hygiene purpose, as the blankets will be no longer provided to passengers.

At the same time, every curtain in every coach has been removed from trains, all across the nation. This has been done to minimize any risk of contamination.

In a tweet, Western Railways informed:

“Kindly note that it has been decided to withdraw curtains & blankets from AC coaches of trains as they are not washed every trip, for prevention of #coronavirus. Passengers may please bring their own blankets if need be. Inconvenience is regretted.”

For lots of passengers and social media users, this piece of admission was a rude shock.

Lots of passengers travel on AC coaches, and lots of them assumed that the blankets are washed and cleaned daily. 

However, bedsheets are cleaned daily, and this is a huge relief!

In case you are planning to travel by Indian Railways, do remember to keep your own blanket, else you will end up shivering whole night. 

Every Rail Passenger Will Be Screened In Kerala

Kerala, which has 2nd most highest cases of coronavirus (after Maharashtra), has decided to screen and test every rail passenger, for a possible infection.

This checking will be done while the train is moving, hence, no disruption to other passengers, and the timing of the train will also not suffer.

Airports across India are already screening passengers for coronavirus.

This way, Kerala becomes the 1st state to screen rail passengers as well, for coronavirus. As of now, this screening will take place at Parassala, Aryankavu, Valayar, Meenakshipuram, Mahe and Manjeshwara railway stations.

Highways and road entry points will also be screened for coronavirus.

Just In: New Delhi Railway Station has also set up a kiosk to check for passengers coming in via trains.
