In-Display Fingerprint Scanner On LCD: How Will It Work?

The in-display or under display fingerprint scanner on LCD will work the same way as an LED panel unlike some technological differences. The infrared transmitter only works on an LED panel. The LED panel can only emit infrared light.

Once touched, the fingerprint is reflected and the fingerprint sensor authorises a fingerprint to complete verification.

Redmi brand manager Lu Weibing has confirmed that the company has successfully developed a new technology which lets a fingerprint scanner sit under an LCD panel.

The company will be implementing the same technology, a fingerprint scanner under an LCD for the future budget smartphones. The company is said to have also demonstrated how the in-display fingerprint sensor LCD technology works on a Redmi Note 8 Pro prototype.

Redmi Note 9 Pro To Have In-Display Fingerprint Sensor?

The new technology lets the LCDs have a backlight module, the main part of the transmitter. LCDs will have the optical fingerprint sensor, and probably Redmi Note 9 Pro will come with it.

Xiaomi has successfully solved the problem, and now it’s working to mass produce such LCDs which can feature an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Xiaomi will be the first smartphone manufacturer to launch a smartphone with an in-display fingerprint sensor on a LCD panel. Such LCDs will use infrared high-transmittance film material which will help the device scan the finger.

Redmi Note 9, Note 9 Pro Specs: Expected Features

Redmi Note 9 Pro will pack in glass design as the predecessors with some new colour combinations. Redmi Note 7 Pro and Redmi Note 8 Pro came with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protections with a gradient back design.

As shown in the teaser, the Note 9 smartphones will come with a new design on the out, square shaped camera module featuring quad cameras.

Coming to display, Note 9 Pro will again come with a similar IPS LCD panel as other Redmi Note series phones.

Xiaomi India has officially confirmed that Xiaomi will launch phones based on the latest Qualcomm premium chipsets, which include Snapdragon 765, Snapdragon 865 and the just launched Snapdragon 720G.

The latest Snapdragon 720G may power the Redmi Note 9 Pro, the next mid-range flagship from Redmi lineup.

Poco X2 is a winner in the mid-range section, and Note 9 Pro will succeed the series with better features.

The octa-core Snapdragon 720G will focus on gaming with 10-bit HDR support.

SD 720G will pack in a Qualcomm Hexagon 692 DSP for on-device AI operations. It will support 4K video recording and high-speed AMOLED displays. The chipset dons X15 LTE modem, ensuring download speeds upto as high as 800Mbps.

Xiaomi India has officially confirmed the next Redmi smartphone will be supporting ISRO’s NavIC satellite navigation system.

As per ISRO, the accuracy of the NavIC system is more than that of GPS, as the former works on dual frequency bands (S and L), whereas, GPS works only on the L band.

Redmi Note 9 Pro will also be setting some new standards with the camera, and hence Sony IMX686 64MP is expected as the main camera. Redmi Note 8 Pro already comes with Samsung 64MP sensor, so Note 9 Pro may also have the largest 108MP sensor.

It’s going to be a four-camera setup with a wide-angle lens on both the Note 9 smartphones, a depth sensor and a macro camera.

Lastly, the same 4,500 mAh battery is expected on Redmi Note 9 Pro with battery capacity optimisation, while Note 9 may pack a 4,000mAh battery. The company already offers 18W fast charging, and either the same or a higher speed fast charging maybe the existing 27W fast charging or the new 30W fast charging charger.
