3350 Tonne Goldmine Discovery In UP Is Fake News; Only 160 Kg Of Gold Can be Extracted!
In the last 48 hours, entire India was abuzz with the news of goldmine discovery in the state of Uttar Pradesh. As per a Mining Officer, the goldmines discovered in Sonbhadra district had 3350 tonnes of Gold.
This is 5-times of entire Gold reserve of India.
Speculations were rife that this discovery of Gold can change the fortunes of UP, a state where 29% population sill lives under poverty.
But now, this news has turned out to be fake.
GSI: 3350 Tonne Gold Discovery Is Not True
Geological Survey of India, which researched and hunted for Gold mines in the state of UP since last 20 years, have rejected the claims made by a Mining Officer regarding the massive discovery of Gold.
That Mining Officer who claimed about the discovery of Gold is also from GSI, but it seems that he shared wrong news.
GSI Director General: M Sridhar has said, “Such data was not given by anybody from GSI…. GSI has not estimated such kind of vast resource of gold deposits in Sonbhadra district,”
This clears the air about this news of Gold discovery.
Only 160 Kgs Gold Can Be Extracted, Not 3350 Tonne
As per Sridhar, GSI had indeed done the research for 20 years, but the outcome was very poor, and the reports have been sent to the UP DGM.
He said, “We share our findings regarding any resources of ore after conducting survey with the state units…. We (GSI, Northern Region) had carried out work in that region in 1998-99 and 1999-2000. The report was shared with UP DGM for information and further necessary action..”
Infact, based on the findings of GSI, it seems that only 160 kgs of Gold can be extracted from the Goldmines found at Sonbhadra district of UP, not 3350 tonnes.
GSI has estimated that close to 52,806.25 tonnes of ore with 3.03 grams per tonne gold (average grade) for a strike length of 170m can be found at Sub- Block-H, Son Pahadi of Sonbhadra district.
If 3.03 grams of Gold is extracted from 1 tonne, then out of 52,806.25 tonnes of ore, only 160 kgs of Gold can be eventually extracted.
We will keep you updated, as more details come in.
