Starting this year, Income Tax Department has made the process of generating PAN card super easy, and super cheap.

Infact, Indians can now get a free PAN Card, which will be the electronic version of the PAN, and in 10 minutes!

How To Generate PAN Card Using Aadhaar 

Step 1: Visit the official website of Income Tax Department here.

Step 2: Click on the “Instant PAN through Aadhaar”, which is located in the Quick Links section, in the left hand side.

Step 3: Enter your Aadhaar Card number

Step 4: Validate your Aadhaar Card via OTP, which will be sent on your registered phone number

Step 5: Validate your email ID as well, although this is optional

Step 6: Once the validation is completed, Income Tax Department servers will communicate with UIDAI servers, and process your request. This entire process takes 10 minutes maximum

Step 7: After 10-12 minutes, you need to click on “Check Status/Download PAN”

Step 8: Your ePAN is ready, and you can download it. The pdf version will also be sent to your registered email id for instance download

Step 9: For a laminated PAN card, you can place a request instantly, for which Rs 50 will be charged. But the ePAN which is generated, and ready for download is free.

How Will This Help Indian Citizens?

There are several Indians, who still dont have a PAN Card. Infact, as per a 2019 press release, there are only 42 crore PAN Card holders in India, and less than 2 crore pay Income Taxes.

Out of them, only 25 crore have linked their PAN with Aadhaar.

By planning a new and easy method to generate PAN Card, Income Tax Dept will help a lot of Indians to generate one, and encourage them to start paying Income Taxes.

Since more than 125 crore Indians have Aadhaar card, this new way to generate PAN Card will surely help a lot of Indians..
