Mahindra XUV300 Electric SUV Unveiled At Auto Expo 2020; Can Be Priced Under Rs 15 Lakh To Challenge Tata Nexon EV!
Electric vehicles being in demand due to climate change and many factors, the automobile industry is seeing substantial growth in the launch of new EVs.
Mahindra unveiled its first long range EV in its pre-production stage: XUV300.
The XUV300 Electric was announced by Mahindra at the launch of the ICE-powered versions of the sub-4 metre SUV in early 2019. At the AutoExpo 2020, Mahindra revealed the all-electric iteration of the XUV300 SUV, which is set to launch in the second half of 2020.
At the AutoExpo 2020, Mahindra pavilion showcased 18 vehicles including EVs, facelifts, and next-gen iterations of current vehicles.
The XUV300 Electric will be the second new EV under the Mahindra Electric banner after the eKUV100.
What to expect in the ICE XUV300’s counterpart: XUV300 Electric?
The XUV300 Electric comes with a slightly revised front and rear profiles compared to the regular XUV300.
The front end looks slightly different and the grille has been renewed as it is an electric car. The headlights, tail lights and bumper seem redesigned. The tail lamps have a sleek design with a blue metallic strip. In profile, the EV comes with new alloy wheels.
The makeover suggests that Mahindra wants to give its electric car, XUV300 Electric a new identity.
The interior of the SUV is similar to ICE XUV300. The production model could feature a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, front parking sensors, steering modes, and heated ORVMs.
XUV300 Electric could also get push-button start, cruise control, and a sunroof. Expected safety equipment includes seven airbags, ABS + EBD, parking sensors with rear camera, ESP, driver and co-driver seat belt warning, and high speed alert.
The touchscreen seems bigger as compared to the one in XUV300 and the con is it projects out making it seem tacky and out of place.
The blue feature in the interior suggests the car’s eco-friendly nature.
Mahindra has revealed the aesthetics of the car at AutoExpo 2020 but not the technical specifications.
Mahindra’s competition with TATA’s Nexon EV?
Tata recently launched its fully-electric Tata Nexon EV at an aggressive starting price of Rs13.99 lakh.
Mahindra’s XUV300 is set to be priced at 15 lakhs giving TATA’s Nexon EV a tough competition in the Indian market.
