Income Tax Dept Releases List Of Official Email IDs, SMS IDs To Stop Frauds, Scams (Complete List Here)

As per the reports, the income tax department has released a list of all email ids, SMS sender ids and even websites used by the taxman to communicate with taxpayers.

The income tax department has asked all taxpayers to not open any messages from any sender other than the ones mentioned in the list provided by them in order to avoid any phishing attempts.

According to the reports, the income tax department periodically issues warnings to taxpayers about ways to safeguard themselves against frauds. 

The Income Tax department had sent an email on Thursday,  to taxpayers informing them about the genuine sources (email, SMS, and websites) from which they will receive any sort of official communication.

Why Was This List Shared?

As digital frauds are on the rise and it has become a threat to taxpayers, leaving them vulnerable.

Also, the fraudsters are becoming increasingly adept at stealing taxpayer money. 

What Could Be Done To Avoid These Frauds?

It would be advised if we do not blindly trust anyone who has called, messaged, e-mailed you about income tax-related matters.

An email sent out to taxpayers reads “Always check, before you click. Trust only these sources,” reads and also warns them to never disclose their personal or financial details. 

Many taxpayers have reported phishing messages to the income tax department. 

Usually, these fraudulent attempts made through SMSes and emails are often done to extract sensitive information from taxpayers by posing as officials from the income tax department.
