A police commissioner from Bengaluru has taken to Twitter and reprimanded food delivery platforms and asked them to increase the delivery time of food that is ordered online rather than having the delivery executives violating traffic rules. Bengaluru Cops: Stop 30 Mins Free Delivery

We all know how eagerly we wait for our online ordered food, but we don’t think twice about the delivery executives who drive rashly just to get our food to us on time.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao tweeted to the pizza delivery companies to increase the amount of time of delivery for the delivery executives. Here’s what he said, “Do we have the heart to get a free pizza from a kid who is risking his life just because he crossed over 30 mins. Am seriously considering asking pizza companies to make it 40 mins as these kids risk their lives by breaking all traffic rules.”

The customer care of Swiggy replied to this, saying, “Hi there, we understand your concern. We do not condone traffic violations of any nature. If you witness the same, please highlight it to us by contacting us at 080-46866699. Have a good day ahead.”

This incurred the wrath of the cop, who informed them that Swiggy’s delivery partners are the most contributors in breaking traffic rules and regulations. He warned the platform that the next time there is an accident, Swiggy will be put behind bars.

Swiggy: Yes, Online Food Price Is Higher

Swiggy has also been accused of keeping the online menu rates higher than the actual rates at the restaurant, which was accepted by Swiggy, and they also offered an explanation.

Bengaluru-based Raju JVA, tweeted, “Slowly big discounts are coming down. In fact, prices of food items in Zomato or Swiggy menu are 25 to 50% more than actual price of the same at restaurant. Delivery charges added. Home made food will always prevail.”

Swiggy explained that the prices are set by restaurants, and the platform itself doesn’t intervene. They said, “we’re trying to maintain transparency in our services & that extends to the pricing on the platform. However, the prices might be different online & offline as it is the sole discretion of the restaurant without any added input from our end.”
