Kia Sonet SUV Confirmed For 2020 Launch: Priced Under Rs 7 lakh, Kia Sonet Will Compete With Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport!
Kia Motors India has commenced its next Inning with a very positive vibe citing the humongous success for its Seltos.
According to reports, the company is now preparing to launch the Carnival premium MPV at Auto Expo 2020.
How Did This Happen?
The company will get busy with readying a Hyundai Creta rival in the form of the Kia Sonet (Codename- QYI), following the launch of the Carnival.
During the second-half of the current year, the Kia Sonet will be launched in India as confirmed by the company itself.
Kia is planning to even make its debut of the new model and it could albeit in a concept avatar, at the Auto Expo 2020.
A press statement from the company said “to further strengthen its Utility Vehicle brand image in India, the company is planning to launch a new sub-compact SUV in the second half of 2020,”.
Which New Features Will Kia Sonet Have?
The interesting point to not here is that the nomenclature of the upcoming model is in line with the company’s habit of giving its global models a name that begins with the letter S.
So, Sonet will be an addition to the long list comprising Soul, Stonic, Seltos, Sportage, Sorento and Sedona.
If we talk about the exterior, the Kia Sonet is likely to come with LED headlights, 17-inch mag wheels, LED taillamps and an electric sunroof.
While interiors will be equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, UVO Connect connected apps suite, wireless smartphone charger and rear AC vents.
It is rumored that Kia Sonet will share its underpinnings with the Hyundai Venue. However, safely expect the new model to cost a tad higher.
Who Are The Competitors For Kia Sonet?
It is expected that Sonet will be rivaling with its own cousin the Maruti Vitara Brezza and the new model will even lock horns with the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport.
Apart from this, the Kia Sonet is expected to be available with a range of engine options, including a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit, 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.4-litre turbocharged diesel motor.
All motors, apart from the base petrol engine, are expected to be sold with an automatic transmission option.
