5 Upcoming Electric Cars, SUVs Launching In 2020 In India: Maruti, Mahindra, Ford, MG & More

The coming new year will bring along with it a fresh new batch of automobiles, and a lot of them are switching to the electrically powered models. 

Electric vehicles have much more positive sides than the ones run by petrol and diesel and other conventionally powered ones, such as less costs, less pollution, and more. The Government has also been pushing the public to switch to electric vehicles as well. 

Here are five upcoming electrically powered cars that will be launched in 2020:

Mahindra eKUV100

The Mahindra eKUV100 will come with a 380-volt system and a 150kW battery that will enable the car to run for 250 kilometers. It will be similar to the eVerito and will also have a fast charging option. This means that the battery can be powered up to 80% in under an hour, and help it run for 140 kilometers. 

Expected Date of Launch: January 2020

Estimated Price: Rs. 9 – 10 Lakhs

Mahindra XUV300 EV (S210)

Another one by Mahindra, this one is a high-powered electric powertrain and is expected to come with a 40 kWh battery and a 130 hp motor. It is also said to be enabled to run 300 kilometers on a single charge. The specifications of this car will be quite similar to those of Kona Electric.

Mahindra-Ford Aspire EV

Leading automobile manufacturers, Ford and Mahindra have put their heads together to build an Aspire-based electric sedan, the Mahindra-Ford Aspire EV. Not much about this car is known as of yet, but there’s no doubt that it will be a disruption!

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R EV

Maruti Suzuki is launching an electrically powered Wagon R later this year. It will come with standard AC charging that will be fully charged in 7 hours. There might also be a fast charging feature (DC) that will charge 80% of the battery in less than an hour. It will also be able to run for 130 kilometers on a full charge.

Estimated Price: Rs 7.00 – 10.00 lakh

MG ZS EV

MG ZS electric car will have a battery that comes with a 50 kW DC fast charging option, and it can be charged up to 80% in under 50 minutes. The battery can also be charged by a home charger of 7.4 kW AC in about 6-8 hours.
