BSNL Launches Its Own OTT App: But It Has No English Content, Only Prepaid Users Can Access It!
State-run telecom carrier BSNL as now jumped into the on-demand entertainment niche. They have just launched BSNL TV, which is their on-demand entertainment app, which rivals Jio’s Jio TV and Airtel’s XStream app for similar on-demand entertainment.
However, there are some interesting facts about this OTT app, which has surprised us.
BSNL TV: Only Regional Content, No English Content
Quite oddly, BSNL TV only offers regional content in these languages: Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Rajasthani, Hindi, Odiya, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali and Haryanavi.
There is no English content available on the app.
The app has been created by Lokdhun Telemedia Pvt. Ltd, which specializes in regional content only.
Only For Prepaid Users
BSNL TV is, again very strangely, only available for prepaid users. Post paid users of BSNL cant have access to BSNL TV.
We haven’t been able to decode the logic behind offering an on-demand entertainment app, only for postpaid users.
Prepaid Plans Which Will Support BSNL TV
Another interesting fact: BSNL TV will be available for only those prepaid users, who opt to recharge their accounts with some specific prepaid plans.
These are the prepaid plans, which will support BSNL TV service: STV 97, STV 365, STV 399, STV 997, STV 998 and STV 1999. The STV 1999.
