95 Biryanis/60 Seconds; 17 Lakh Gulab Jamuns, 306% Rise In Ketogenic Diet: Swiggy Stats Of 2019!

Swiggy has just released their annual report on the food ordering habits of Indians, and there are some major surprises here.

Although biryani is still #1 dish which Indians ordered on the app, but khichadi has beaten every other dish, when it comes to growth of orders.

Here are the fascinating details from Swiggy’s StatEATistics’ report.

Khichadi Beats Biryani

When it comes to growth in terms of orders, then khichadi has emerged as top dish with 128% growth, compared to 2018.

This way, khichadi has beaten biryani to become the fastest growing dish which is being ordered by Indians on Swiggy.

But in terms of sheer volume, biryani is #1 dish which Indians ordered: Whooping 95 biryanis were ordered per minute on Swigyy, which is an increase of 120% compared to last year, when 43 orders of biryani were reported, per minute.

Here are the most ordered dishes on Swiggy: chicken biryani, masala dosa, paneer butter masala, chicken fried rice, mutton biryani, chicken dum biryani, veg fried rice, veg biryani, tandoori chicken and dal makhani.

300% Growth For Ketogenic Diet

Ketogenic Diet or low carb diet, is the new favourite among Swiggy users. The food delivery app witnessed massive 306% growth for Ketogenic Diet on their platform.

Ketogenic diet includes meat, fish, poultry and non-starchy vegetables.

Gulab Jamun #1 Dessert

When it comes to desserts, then Gulab Jamun is the #1 choice for Indians.In 2019, Swiggy delivered more than 1.7 million gulab jamuns, whereas around 200,000 orders of halwa were delivered.

Falooda was the newest entry into the list for top desserts on Swiggy, with more than 1.1 million orders.

In fact, a special falooda filled with ice-cream was ordered 6000 times in Mumbai!

On the other hand, choco pie and drink was the most favourite dessert in Chandigarh, with more than 79,000 orders.

Other popular desserts ordered by Indians are: ‘death by chocolate’, ‘tender coconut ice cream’, ‘tiramisu ice cream’ and ‘kesar halwa’.

Sudha, a delivery partner from Kochi delivered 6838 orders in 13 months, thereby becoming their #1 delivery partner pan-India.
