90% Of Mobile Users Will Be Forced To Pay 50% Extra: Biggest Disruption From Airtel, Jio, Vodafone-Idea?

Starting December 3rd, 90% of all Indian telecom users will be forced to pay upto 50% more for using mobile services.

Is this the biggest disruption of all, from Airtel, Vodafone-Idea and Jio?

90% Of All Mobile Users Will Be Forced To Pay Extra

As of now, Airtel, Vodafone-Idea and Jio collectively command 90% share in the telecom market. BSNL has less 10% share.

As we reported earlier, first Vodafone-Idea, and then Airtel and finally Jio announced price hike of their respective mobile services.

While Airtel and Vodafone-Idea will hike their voice and data charges from December 3rd, Jio will increase their charges from December 6th.

Collectively, around 40% to 50% is the hike in telecom services, across various plans.

And the telecom users will be forced to pay this, if they want to continue using their services.

Upto 50% Increase In Mobile Tariff Planned By Airtel, Vodafone-Idea, Jio

In the case of Jio, they have announced that their mobile tariff will now increase by 40%, after December 3rd. 

However, they have also stated that users will now get 300% more benefits, as a new ‘All in One’ plan has been announced by them. No details were shared yet.

On the other hand, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea will hike their mobile tariffs by upto 40%, starting December 3rd, midnight.

In case of Airtel, their old Rs 129 plan with unlimited voice calling will now cost Rs 148; Rs 169 and Rs 199 plans merged to become Rs 248 plan and Rs 249 plan will now cost Rs 298.

Their popular 82-days plans for Rs 448 will now cost Rs 598, and their long term plans of Rs 998 and Rs 1699 will now cost Rs 1499 and Rs 2398 respectively.

At a minimum, every user will be compelled to spend Rs 49 to stay connected.

In the case of Vodafone-Idea, their old plans of Rs 199 with unlimited voice calling will now cost Rs 249, and their long term annual plan of Rs 1699, will now cost Rs 2399.

Their 84 day plan for Rs 458 will now cost Rs 599.

In the case of Vodafone-Idea as well, Rs 49 will be the minimum recharge to stay connected, and enable incoming calls.

And not only that, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea have also restricted the number of outgoing calls to other networks: It would be 1000 for plans with 28 days validity, 3000 in case of 84 days and 12000 in case of 365 days validity.
