Indian Railways has ensured that the quantity and quality of the food items will not be compromised.

The statement said, “The IRCTC shall be accountable for providing the newly-introduced menu options in a way that the quantity and quality are commensurate with the tariff and no undue benefit is passed on to the service provider,”

New Regional Snacks For Premium Train Passengers

Besides this notification for price hike of regular meals, Indian Railways has also announced that a new category of food will be introduced: Regional Snacks.

This will be priced at Rs 50 plus GST, for all the food types.

Hence, passengers passing via Gujarat can now order regional delicacies such as Dhokla, Fafda and more; passengers passing via Bengal can now order fish fries and those in Kerala can now order appam, along with the regular meals.

These regional food items haven’t been mentioned by Indian Railways in their notification, but we are assuming that, based on our experiences.
