Yet another case has been filed against OYO and the name has been dragged through the mud once again. 

OYO has faced a series of protests, revolts and boycotts against the room renting company by the hotelier’s associations and even hotel owners in America, for unreasonable fees and charges. The company recently was under investigation for abusing competition law and employing unfair business practices.   

Ritesh Agarwal, who is the youngest Indian in the Hurun’s list of richest Indians, has been booked by the police and will have to face the investigative officer.

Cheating Case Filed Against OYO By Hotel Owner in Bengaluru

As per reports, the complaint has been filed by Betz Fernandez, who is the owner of Roxel Inn at Domlur. He states that OYO had booked rooms and also consented to pay him an amount of Rs. 7 lakh per month. 

However, OYO did not stand true to its words, and didn’t pay him any amount. He has accused OYO of scamming him of a whopping Rs. 35 lakhs. 

Other then Ritesh Agarwal, Rohit Srivastava, head of OYO South, heads of business development Madhvendra Kumar and Gourab De, OYO Finance Officers Prateek Agarwal, Manjeet Singh and Mrimony Chakraborty are the six officials who have been booked, and asked to appear before the investigating officer on Tuesday. 

OYO Refutes All Allegations: Says Accusations Are Defamatory

Oyo Hotels and Homes has refuted all the allegations and claimed that they are will be filing a counter-complaint against the hotel owner, and the charges will be using improper legal means to sensationalise a civil dispute and get attention.”

In a statement, OYO  said, “Our lawyers are looking into the matter and will be taking strong legal action as these claims are incorrect and defamatory in nature.”

OYO is quite confident of escaping this without a blemish because a similar matter had happened before and OYO had been let off without charges. The company said, “On studying a similar matter where an FIR was wrongfully filed in September, the honourable Karnataka High Court recently stayed the adverse actions via an injunction in Bengaluru. We, therefore, have strong reasons to repose our faith in the justice system.”
