BSNL Will Pay You 6 Paisa For 5 Minutes Of Voice Calls: Bold Move By BSNL?

BBSNL, India’s state run telecom carrier has launched a unique, and innovative scheme for all landline and broadband users.

For every 5 minutes of voice call made, BSNL will pay you 6 paisa.

Get Paid For Using BSNL Wireline Network

This is India’s first such scheme, wherein a telecom provider is actually paying money to the users, for making voice calls.

Note here, that this scheme is not applicable for BSNL’s mobile network users, and applicable for only wireline, broadband and FTTH customers.

BSNL is India’s biggest provider of wireline services, with 51% market share, and this move can be a desperate attempt by them to retain their market share.

Explaining the logic behind this move, Vivek Banzal, director CFA, BSNL said, “In an era of digital experiences, where customers are seeking quality services for voice and data. We want our customers to engage more with our upgraded Next Generation Network, experience the quality of voice call which happens on wireline, and also get incentivized for the same,”

This can also be a move to lure in Jio users into their wireline network, since Jio will charge 6 paisa per voice call from their users, in order to compensate the IUC charges.

Jio will only charge this amount of 6 paisa from those users, who are making calls to other telecom network.

Will BSNL Survive?

State run telecom carrier BSNL has no money to pay salaries to their employees, and talks are already on to sell off the company to private players, under ‘strategic disinvestment’ move.

Considering these developments, this is indeed a very bold and curious move by BSNL to pay users, for making outbound voice calls.

MTNL employees have already received letters for implementing VRS or Voluntary Retirement Scheme and BSNL, MTNL are getting merged as well.

Once MTNL becomes part BSNL, then the merged entity will raise Rs 15,000 crore via bonds.
