The Central Railways Introduce One Touch AVTM Machines For Mumbai Locals

The Central Railways has released a press report that announced the installation of One Touch Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM) at railway stations. The intention behind the installation of AVTMs is that they will help simplify the process of buying tickets.

The press release states that there will be about 92 AVTMs installed at 42 suburban stations. These newly developed One Touch AVTMs will enable passengers to get their ticket in only two steps, instead of the laborious six steps that they have to go through presently on a regular ATVM.

Shivaji Sutar, Chief PRO, Central Railway, said, “This one-touch ATVM is introduced keeping in mind the fast life of Mumbai commuters as it will reduce the waiting time of the passengers and avoid standing in long queues.”

He predicted that these One Touch AVTMs will ‘greatly ease the load on the ticketing system’ of the suburban network of Mumbai.

One Touch AVTMs: Here’s How They Work

The One Touch ATVM will have one screen that will show you the options for which you are buying a ticket: a single journey or a return journey. You can then select the name of the station which is your destination, and press the ‘up to station’ tab for your journey, be it a single journey or a return journey.

Moreover, the One Touch AVTMs will allow you to also get a platform ticket with one single touch.

With all the confusion and aggravation that the Mumbai local trains manage to make, lets hope this new development by the Central Railways gets work done faster and smoother!
