No Salary For BSNL Employees; But Govt Spends Rs 16000 Cr For Central Govt. Employees Bonus!
1.68 lakh BSNL and MTNL employees are left high and dry, as they have not received any salary for the last two months. This means that their Dussehra and most probably Diwali will be literally without any celebration.
At the same time, Govt has decided to spend Rs 16,000 crore for raising 5% DA allowance for all Central Govt employees, which also includes BSNL employees.
What logic is that?
No Salary For BSNL Employees
1.58 lakh BSNL employees, and 22,000 MTNL employees have decided to hold massive protests against the Govt for not releasing their last two months salary.
Some employee unions from BSNL have also declared that they will walk upto PM Modi’s residence, and inform him about their conditions.
A protest march from India Gate in Delhi to PM Modi’s residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg has been proposed.
VK Tomar, secretary-general of MTNL Executives’ Association said, “We have given a notice to organise a protest rally from India Gate to Prime Minister’s residence,”
As per Tomar, the last salary which they received was in August, after which they haven’t received any salary.
At the same time, BSNL has assured everyone that their salaries would be credited before Diwali, although no official communication has been shared.
BSNL CMD PK Purwar has informed the media that they had revenues of Rs 1600 crore per month, and salary expenses are Rs 850 crore.
Govt Will Spend Rs 16,000 Crore For Central Govt. Employees Bonus
At the same time, Govt. has decided to hike dearness allowance of all Central Govt. employees by 5%, as a Diwali bonus.
This means that 50 lakh Central Govt. employees, and 62 lakh pensioners will get 5% extra DA, which will cost Rs 16,000 crore per year to the Govt. as additional expenses.
This is certainly pretty strange logic.
If Rs 850 crore per month expenditure can save BSNL employees from bankruptcy, and help them celebrate Diwali, and mainly survive, then that should be the top priority of the Govt.
