Realme X2 Pro India launch has been confirmed, and the upcoming Realme flagship is all set to disrupt the entry-premium flagship market. Xiaomi is currently ruling the segment with Redmi K20 Pro, the most affordable Snapdragon 855 flagship in the country.
So, will Redmi K20 Pro be able to sustain the competition against Realme X2 Pro in India?

Realme X2 Pro vs Redmi K20 Pro: Design & Build
Redmi K20 Pro features a mix of glass and metal with a 3D gradient finish at the back with curved sides at back for firm gripping. Redmi K20 feels sturdy and premium, and it’s glossy on the out. Similarly Realme X2 Pro will come with a glass sandwich body.
Both Redmi K20 Pro and Realme X2 Pro with the glass build will be very premium and easy to be held.
Glass does pose a threat to falls, and that comes with its own disadvantages. Both the smartphones have gradient colours and are clean and smooth.
The shiny coating on both are fingerprint magnets, and the companies pack in a good TPU case in the box. Use them to stay away from smudges. The the glass sandwich design on both Redmi K20 Pro and Realme X2 Pro are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass coating.
Redmi K20 Pro vs Realme X2 Pro: Display & Viewing Experience
Redmi K20 Pro comes with an 6.39-inch Super AMOLED notch-less display offering a screen to body ratio of 91.2 percent alongwith the pop-up sensor on top. It boasts a screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 coating with an in-display fingerprint sensor beneath.
As a big upgrade, Realme’s first premium flagship will come with a 90Hz Fluid AMOLED screen as the new OnePlus 7T or OnePlus 7 Pro.
Realme X2 Pro has also been confirmed with a 90Hz display, with an option to switch to 60Hz as well. The 90Hz Fluid AMOLED screen have a 40ms touch response and its own animation optimisations.
Realme is not using a curved Fluid display as OnePlus 7 Pro. Realme X2 Pro will have an 20:9 aspect ratio tall display along with a water drop notch supporting HDR with HDR10+ support.
Redmi K20 Pro also has a quite vibrant with minimal bezels on the sides with a little chin down under and an in-display optical fingerprint scanner. Plus, the AMOLED helps with the best of darks.
K20 Pro has no notch, while Realme X2 Pro has a water drop notch. The Realme Snapdragon 855 Plus smartphone has a superior display, and this helps to add up to the overall user experience, but in case you hate notches, the Redmi K20 Pro 60Hz display won’t disappoint you either.
Redmi K20 Pro vs Realme X2 Pro: Hardware & Storage
Redmi K20 Pro is powered by the current best Qualcomm flagship chip, Snapdragon 855. The SoC is built on an 7nm architecture along with Qualcomm Adreno 640 GPU. Redmi K20 Pro in India is available with 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM with 128GB and 256GB storage.
Realme X2 Pro will run on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chip. It has new Kryo cores clocked up to 2.96 GHz with improved GPU performance upto 15 percent.
It’s 15 percent faster than the standard Snapdragon 855 on the predecessor. This won’t be a huge upgrade, but you will find some subtle differences between Redmi K20 Pro and Realme X2 Pro.
Both Realme X2 Pro and Redmi K20 Pro can manage everything you throw at it, be it top-end games at higher screen resolution, extensive multitasking or both.
On paper, Realme X2 Pro has an upgraded processor, but in terms of daily performance, both Redmi K20 Pro and OnePlus 7T can run high-end games with ease along with extensive multitasking. There won’t be any noticeable difference in terms of day to day use, gaming or performance.
Realme X2 Pro vs Redmi K20 Pro: Software & UI
Redmi K20 will run on the latest MIUI 10 based on top of Android 9 Pie. K20 Pro has priority access to the new Android 10 beta program, so, you will have access to the latest Android 10. Realme X2 Pro may come with Android 10 out of the box.
Some leaks about Realme X2 Pro hint that the upcoming Realme flagship will run on Android 10 out of the box, which may be based on the much-hyped Realme OS.
Some leaks hinted at the same Android 9 Pie powered Color OS 6 will come with Realme X2 Pro. So we need to wait to see what’s actually in the box.
The ex-Oppo sub-brand previously confirmed that the company is working on its own RealmeOS, which will be less customised and bloatware, much like OxygenOS by OnePlus. There has been no further update on RealmeOS, but it’s expected by the end of the year.
High chances are that the Realme flagship will come the Color OS6.
In that case, both the Redmi and Realme premium devices have heavily customised skins, and thus there’s no one with any advantage here. MIUI have ads, but K20 Pro doesn’t have them. So it’s up to you which to choose depending upon your preferences.
OnePlus 7T vs Redmi K20 Pro: Cameras & Photography
Coming to optics, Redmi K20 Pro has a pop-up camera on top with three cameras at the back. On the rear side, Redmi K20 Pro will come with the Sony 48MP IMX 586 primary sensor, 13MP secondary ultrawide lens and a third 8MP telephoto lens.
In comparison, Realme X2 Pro will come with a quad camera system, an additional sensor.
Realme X2 Pro will feature a quad camera system at the back featuring a 64MP Samsung GW1 sensor with 20X hybrid zoom and three additional lenses for different purposes. The 64MP quad camera setup on Realme X2 Pro will be like Realme XT.
But unlike Realme XT, the Realme X2 Pro will come with dedicated 20X hybrid zoom inside the multi camera system.
Realme X2 Pro will have a 64-megapixel Samsung GW1 powered quad camera system featuring 20X hybrid zoom.
Realme X2 Pro is going to be the first phone in this price segment to come with a 20x zoom powered 64MP quad camera system.
Along with Samsung 64MP GW1 sensor for high-resolution top-notch and detailed pictures, Realme X2 Pro will come with a quad camera system including a 115-degree wide-angle lens, a telephoto lens and a portrait lens with imaging abilities to capture super macro photos up to 2.5cm.
Both will be able to take good, detailed and sharp pictures in bright light with accurate colours.
In poorly lit conditions, Realme X2 Pro may have some advantages. Both the smartphones can manage to click decent photos with almost accurate details and colours.
Theng to the biggest question, does 64MP triumphs 48MP? In a single word, NO, it doesn’t, but there are differences you notice minutely.
The biggest difference comes with when you crop in upto 100 percent. There are subtle differences in detailing. Orelse both 64MP Samsung and 48MP Sony sensors capture a lot of details, have great dynamic range with accurate colours, even at places the 48MP Sony sensor outperforms the Samsung 64MP sensor.
So don’t expect that Realme X2 Pro will be beating Redmi K20 Pro by a mile. Though, the hybrid 20X zoom does sound impressive at this budget along with the other sensors.
The dynamic range on the Redmi K20 Pro is good and it captures quite accurate details and produce good colours. The HDR works fine, and the ultra-wide lens work well as well.
Realme X2 Pro vs Redmi K20 Pro: Battery & Fast Charging
Redmi K20 Pro houses a big 4,000 mAh battery backed by AI smart optimization to extend the phone’s battery to last longer supporting 18W fast charging technology. The charge time may vary from 90 to 100 minutes.
Redmi K20 Pro supports upto 27W fast charging, but the box ships with an 18W charger only.
Realme X2 Pro will come with 50W Super VOOC FlashCharge support.
Realme X2 Pro will feature Oppo’s 50W Super VOOC fast charging support, to debut in Europe first. Oppo unveiled 50W SuperVOOC charging with Find X, which would charge up the whole 3,400mAh battery in 35 minutes.
The company claims the 50W Super VOOC charging technology is going to be the fastest charging solution available in the whole of the European continent.
With 50W SuperVOOC fast charging, Realme X2 Pro can be charged fully in just 35 minutes.
Realme is yet to reveal the capacity for the battery to be used in Realme X2 Pro. It could be somewhere around 3,500mAh to 4,000mAh. Realme X2 Pro will run on Snapdragon 855 Plus, so you can the power consumption will be very less, while the stand-by time is going to be very high.
Redmi K20 Pro vs Realme X2 Pro: Pricing & Availability
Redmi K20 Pro is currently available at Rs 27,999 in the country. Redmi K20 Pro is sold in two storage options in the country: 6GB RAM with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB storage. The base model with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at Rs 27,999.
The top model in the country, on the other hand with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage will be available for Rs 30,999, available via Flipkart and Mi.com.
Realme CEO Madhav Sheth has confirmed that the company will launch Realme X2 Pro in the country in December alongside Realme XT 730G, an upgraded version of the current Realme XT running on Snapdragon 730G. Realme X2 Pro in India is expected at under 30,000 rupees.
Realme X2 Pro vs Redmi K20 Pro: VERDICT
Redmi K20 Pro with the top-end features onboard do create an attractive option. At this price Xiaomi have done a good job offering a top device without comprising in any department. Similarly Realme is all set to disrupt the entry-premium flagship market with Realme X2 Pro.
The Realme flagship will have some edge here with a new processor, additional camera, better display, higher charging speeds and some improved features.
But Redmi K20 Pro isn’t bad either. It stood well in the market with the first-ever features in this budget. If Xiaomi can smartly price K20 Pro after Realme X2 Pro launches as Poco F1, it will remain a winner in the segment.
It would be unfair to compare these two devices just on the basis of price. Both are equally good smartphones, while Redmi K20 Pro have a few features missing, which Xiaomi will surely make up with a successor soon.
