Google has made an announcement of a new feature in its Google Assistant, which can now be used by people who don’t have connection to the internet or a trendy smartphone either.

In fact, Google has now announced that you can call the Google Assistant from any phone, be it a landline or a basic cellphone.

Other than that, you are no longer required to talk to the Google Assistant in English, as it will now be available in 8 new languages! A Desi Google Assistant, how about that!

No Internet? You Can Still Call Google Assistant!

In an event in New Delhi, Google announced that people without internet can also call Google Assistant. However, you need a connection to Vodafone or Idea.

Call up the number – 0008009191000, and ask for any information you want! Also, this number is toll-free and no charges will be incurred.

Manuel Bronstein, Vice President, Product Management, Google, has assured that the conversations will be real-time and ‘incredibly natural.’ He also said that talking to the Google assistant will not feel like talking to a robot, instead, it will feel as if you were talking to a normal person.

Google Assistant Available In 8 Different Indian Languages

All you have to say is “Okay Google, Hindi Mein bolo”, and the Assistant will switch to Hindi.

A Google spokesperson stated, “Starting today, you can talk to your Assistant in the nine Indian languages for example, for talking in Hindi -you can simply say ‘Hey Google, talk to me in Hindi’ to start using the Assistant in the language, without needing to dig around in settings.

Other than Hindi, Google Assistant will be available in Gujarati, Kannada, Urdu, Bengali, Marathi, Urdu, Tamil, and Telugu.

Moreover, Google has stated that Hindi is the second most used language in Google Assistant after English. Bronstein said “For many Indians, voice is increasingly becoming their preferred way to search, and today Hindi has become the second-most used Assistant language globally — after English.”
