The final blueprint for Mumbai-Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train is now almost complete, and we have exact details about how this mega-project will materialise.

Fare for one sided trip, as per current estimations, would be Rs 3000.

However, a lot of challenges still exists.

India’s 1st Bullet Train Fare: Rs 3000

As per Achal Khare, Managing Director of the  National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL), which is undertaking the bullet train project, the estimated fare for this train will be Rs 3000.

As per the details available, the train will make 70 trips, that is 35 on each side, every day between 6AM and 12AM.

Total expenditure for this mega project is estimated to be Rs 1.08 lakh crore as of now, and the construction will start from March 2020, and the first bullet ride will take place in 2023, month of December.

There will be total of 12 stations between Mumbai and Ahmedabad for this high speed corridor.

Infact, a part of civil work for the high speed rail has already begun at the Ahmedabad railway station.

Besides, the work for 237-km long viaduct between Vapi and Vadodara and another package between Vadodara and Ahmedabad with a distance of 87 kms will also start soon, by next year.

Overall, there will be 27 such packages, including the under-sea tunnel in Maharashtra.

But Challenges Remain About Land Acquisition

Acquiring land for the bullet train corridor remains one of the biggest challenges as of now.

55% of the land which is required for the building the required infrastructure is still pending as of now.

As per the project details available, NHSRCL needs 1,380 hectares of land for building the high speed rail corridor, out of which, only 622 hectares or 45% has been acquired.

This requirement of land includes private, government, forest and railway land in both Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Around 19 villages in the state of Gujarat are still protesting against acquisition of the land.

The Project director also assured that 4000 trees have been saved, as they were transplanted to another location.
