Uber Launches 24*7 Helpline For Emergencies During Rides: This Is How It Will Work

Uber Launches 24*7 Helpline

Taking into consideration the safety of its passengers, Uber India has launched an all-time available helpline for riders and drivers to reach out to during their trips in case of unfavourable circumstances.

This development comes right after Uber launched the in-app SOS button in the safety toolkit of the app.

Uber and Ola are two popular cab and taxi services in India, and Ola already launched its own helpline for providing support to its passengers.

The number of crimes that Uber and Ola’s passengers face during their trips is increasing day by day, and we hope such support helplines will curb such issues.

Uber Launches 24*7 Helpline For Riders

Uber has finally launched the helpline, after gaining feedback from its passengers about a 24*7 helpline. This helpline will be available round the clock and in case you have to report a break-down of the car or any other unwanted incident happening.

Pavan Vaish, Head of Central Operations (Rides), Uber India and South Asia expressed his excitement about the launch of the safety helpline, saying, “All our riders will now be able to access this helpline, any time of the day or night, should they need urgent assistance during their trip.”

He also said, “We want to ensure safety is built into the services we offer to all our riders and this additional level of security reiterates our commitment to building the best safety standards across India.”

Uber has also reminded that this helpline is not an alternative to the 100 number, but a way for riders and drivers to get instant support. In case of an emergency, Uber has provided users with an in-app SOS button or simply dial the 100.

Uber’s New Helpline: How Will It Work?

There are only three steps you need to follow to get support through this safety facility. Here they are:

Firstly, the rider, which is you, needs to tap the shield icon on the app to convey a non-emergency safety incident that happens during the trip.

Next, you will see a safety helpline icon, present in the safety tool kit. Click on this safety helpline icon.

After this, you will be connected to a representative from the Uber platform, to whom you can share the details of the emergency. This representative is from the Center of Excellence in India, and these representatives are a part of the Incident Response Team and are well trained.
