Motorola has always held the upper hand in making budget level smartphones, but with competitors such as Redmi, Realme, Vivo and Oppo capturing the market, Motorola has definitely faced a setback.
But the company hasn’t quit. Motorola is back with a budget-level smartphone, Motorola One Action, and as always, we bring to you an honest review about the first impressions that the phone makes on us.

Look, feel and build
The phone comes with a TPU case attached to it; it’s as if Motorola didn’t want us to spend our time and move on quickly to the features of the phone. We received the grey coloured variant of the phone, and the phone is, for the lack of a better word, quite long and tall.
We can assure that it is light and will fit nicely in small hands too. However, the camera at the rear stands out in a bump.
Screen
One of the positives of the Motorola One Action, the screen is a 6.3 FHD+ with a tall aspect ratio of 21:9, and Motorola has claimed it gives cinema vision. The brightness of the phone is decent.
Processor and Functioning
The processor on the phone is the Samsung Exynos 9609, and runs on Android One, which is a major advantage of the phone as this gives a stock android Android experience. The battery on the phone is 3500 mAh battery, with 10W charger for a USB Type-C charging port.
Sensors and Features
The phone has a hybrid sim card slot, and with a 128GB internal storage, we dont think an SD card is necessary.
Coming to the sensors, the Motorola One Action has all the sensors, including face unlock, and a fingerprint sensor. Both the fingerprint and face unlock sensors are quite average and secure.
What should be noted is that the phone has the NFC sensor too!
Price
Motorola One Action has been launched in only one variant: 4GB RAM + 128GB ROM, priced at Rs. 13999.
Camera – USP
There are triple cameras on the top left rear, a primary 12MP sensor with an f/1.8, a 16MP ultrawide video camera, and a 5MP depth sensor, which clicks natural photos, and the colours are not very bright.
You can shoot a wide-angle video at 117 degrees, which would’ve been laudable had it been 120 degrees.
The selfie camera – a big punch hole 12MP selfie camera with an f/2.0. The camera has live filters and great shutter speed. However, Motorola didn’t quite get it right with edge detection.
Another unusual feature of the phone is that you can keep the phone vertical and shoot. Also, you can shoot horizontal wide-angle videos even if the phone is held vertically.
Audio and Visuals
The video of the phone is exceptional, and it does give a cinematic experience as Motorola claims.
But the audio quality doesn’t quite live up to the expectations and is pretty average.
In conclusion, the processor and variant factors are quite good, even the video quality and the overall performance of Motorola One Action is nice.
The phone has a big con and right on its screen – the huge punch hole of the selfie camera on the top left of the screen. Other than that, Motorola One Action works wonders for its price range.
