Whatsapp has been up in news for a variety of reasons lately. Right since adding new emojis to major software changes, Whatsapp has been pushing itself forward to launch newer updates every now and then.
Privacy is a major concern these days. Thankfully, Whatsapp has answered everyone’s plea. It has rolled out a new feature for its Android beta users, wherein you can use fingerprint lock to open your personal messages on the instant messaging app.
Fingerprint Lock Security Rolled by Whatsapp
Whatsapp has finally rolled out the much requested fingerprint lock feature for its Android beta users. As per a report by WABetaInfo, this feature will be available for all Android beta users who are currently using version 2.19.221 of the app.
Users can check their beta version by clicking App info which can be found under “Help” which will be available in the settings icon.
Android users who are not using this version of the app will have to upgrade their app via Google Playstore. If you are still unable to find the feature then it is suggested that you delete your app and reinstall it. After this, under the “Privacy” section, you will find the “Account” option and then you will be able to activate the feature.
Once the Fingerprint lock feature is activated, one needs to authenticate it by placing their finger on the scanner so that their fingerprint can be recorded. Another important feature about this upgrade is that it will help users to hide the content of a new message that they receive.
Recent Ones Too
Recently Whatsapp has been allegedly known to add a feature called ‘Quick Edit Media Shortcut’, which will help users edit a sent or received image directly within the WhatsApp media gallery.
Once released, you can operate it by opening a chat to find an ‘Edit’ option. On Android, the option will be in the menu on the top right corner, while iOS users will find it down below. Notably, the shortcut wouldn’t tamper the original media file but reate a newly edited version that can directly be sent via Whatsapp. It’ll also not likely bring any new editing features but just usual like crop, add text, and draw doodles.
In recent news, Whatsapp is known to have reportedly been working on a desktop version of the app that would allow users to use the messaging app on a PC without having to connect their phone to the Internet.
