Which IT company pays the highest salary to CEO?
Which IT company pays the highest salary to CEO?

In India, the top 5 IT companies are: TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL and Tech Mahindra. Cognizant, IBM, Accenture and others are based out of India, hence we are not considering them.

Among these top 5 Indian IT firms, which company’s CEO is the highest paid?

No, it’s not Infosys or TCS if you are guessing!

HCL’s CEO Is Highest Paid Among All IT Firms

HCL Tech’s CEO: C Vijayakumar is the highest-paid CEO among all Indian IT firms,

In the FY2019, he received Rs 27.94 crore as annual salary, an amount which no other CEO has received in India.

Interestingly, his annual remuneration has dropped by 15.6%, compared to last year, when he received Rs 33.16 crore as annual salary.

The reason was that, his salary is provided via a subsidiary of HCL Tech, and the currency exchange could have been one of the reasons for the reduced salary.

Another interesting fact: The number of crorepati employees in HCL is the least among the top 5 IT firms. Only 23 employees received salary of Rs 1 crore or more in HCL, which is down by 17% compared to 2018, when 28 employees received Rs 1 crore or more salary.

However, at the same time, with 4.2% average salary increment, HCL employees received the biggest appraisals (atleast for higher management positions) among all other IT firms.

Which Are The Other Highest-Paid CEOs?

With a salary of Rs 24.67 crore per year, Salil Parekh, CEO, Infosys is 2nd highest paid CEO in India, among the IT firms.

At #3 is TCS’ CEO Rajesh Gopinathan, who received Rs 16.02 crore.

If we talk about crorepati employees, then TCS, which is World’s 3rd biggest IT firm, has the most number of crorepati employees at 103.

This is more than the combined crorepatis of Infosys and HCL or Infosys and Wipro.

But, the growth of crorepati employees in Infosys is the biggest: Since 2018, employees earning more than Rs 1 crore in Infosys has grown by 100%, a growth rate which no other IT firm in India has been able to replicate.

In Wipro, there are 64 crorepati employees, while in Infosys the number is also 64, but it was just 32 last year.
