Best Smartphones Under Rs 40,000 In July: Redmi K20 Pro, Asus 6Z, OnePlus 7, Poco F1, Honor View20, Black Shark 2

The entry-flagship market currently has three new smartphones in India: Asus 6Z, Black Shark 2 and Oppo Reno 10X Zoom edition. Soon will be joined by the much-anticipated Xiaomi flagship, Redmi K20 Pro. The company is all set to unveil the device in the country a week or so.

Poco F1 and OnePlus 6T retained their spots after the recent price cuts.

Google Pixel 3A again survived in the top 10 somehow backing on its top camera performance and seamless user experience. OnePlus 7 and Honor View20 stays back, while Galaxy A70 exits the lits. Here’s goes our complete July list of the top 10 smartphones under Rs 40,000.

These devices are ranked based on camera performance, gaming experience, multitasking optimisation, display quality and battery performance.

Asus 6Z

Asus recently unveiled its much-awaited flagship in the country, the Zenfone 6 as Asus 6Z with the unique flipping camera.

The flippable dual camera module using the 48MP lens doubles as a front and rear camera. Starting at Rs 31,999, the Asus flagship packs in all the necessary features you would need in a flagship. Asus 6Z offers a full-screen display and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor with a glass sandwich body on the out.

It comes with a 48MP camera dual camera system inside the flipping camera module. It’s the original 48MP Sony IMX 586 lens, which doubles as a rear and front camera. The unique technology has been used to offer a full-screen display.

Asus Zenfone 6Z runs on the latest Snapdragon 855 with almost stock ZenUI 6 skin based on Android 9 Pie. The whole system is backed by a massive 5,000mAh battery supporting 27W fast charging support. In India, Asus 6Z is currently available in three storage models starting at Rs 31,999 via Flipkart.

OnePlus 7

The new OnePlus 7 is currently one of the best smartphones you can buy at under 40,000 rupees in India. The OnePlus 7 starts at Rs 32,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model, making it a solid option at under Rs 40,000 with the best of specs and features. A little upgrade over its predecessor, the regular OnePlus 7 doesn’t disappoint you in terms of raw performance and user experience.

OnePlus 7 runs on OxygenOS based on Android 9.0 Pie, sporting a 6.41-inch full HD+ Optic AMOLED display in an 19.5:9 aspect ratio, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6.

OnePlus 7 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC coupled with the Adreno 640 GPU and up to 8GB of RAM.

At the back, OnePlus 7 features a dual rear camera setup featuring a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor as its primary camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and secondary 5-megapixel sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. Redmi K20 Pro

Xiaomi is all set to unveil its first flagship series under Redmi in the country in a week or so. The launch of Redmi K20 Pro would bring in a dramatic change in the entry-level premium range of smartphones. As Poco F1 did bring in a storm, Xiaomi again plans to break into a market with a very competitive pricing model for both Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro. The smartphone will launch in the country next month starting at around Rs 25,000, making it a solid contender at under 40,000 rupees.

Redmi K20 Pro will come with the latest Qualcomm flagship processor Snapdragon 855, three rear cameras, notch-less display, in-display fingerprint sensor and a pop-up selfie camera.

Redmi K20 Pro will also run on the latest Android Q beta version out of the box, a huge 4,000mAh battery supporting 27W fast charging and special gaming features to offer the best of smartphone gaming experience. The smartphone packs in all you would be needing in a flagship, all at a very budget pricing. It will pose as a big threat to some of the top contenders in the sub-40,000 space as Asus 6Z, OnePlus 7, Oppo RENO and such more.

Honor View20

Honor View20 is currently available starting at Rs 34,999, making the Honor device a good option to buy at under Rs 35,000 rupees. The US has cleared the business blockage, so Google updates won’t be an issue anymore. It was the first phone in India to come with an in-display selfie shooter in a punch-hole styled display.

The smartphone comes with a dual-camera setup at the back including the popular 48-megapixel primary Sony IMX 586 sensor and a secondary ToF depth sensor.

Honor View20 runs on an octa-core Kirin 980 chipset, based on a 7nm process with Dual NPU and GPU Turbo 2.0 technology, coupled with 6GB and 8GB of RAM.

The 6GB RAM base variant comes with 128GB of internal storage, while the 8GB RAM top model comes with 256GB of internal storage. Honor View20 has a 4,000mAh battery supporting 18W fast charging and a 25-megapixel upfront. The smartphone can easily run for a day on a single charge.

Poco F1

After the recent price cut, Poco F1 is now available starting at Rs 17,999 in the country. The Xiaomi bestseller comes with a 6.18-inch Full HD+ display offering a resolution of 1080 x 2246 pixels in an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, Poco F1 runs on the previous Qualcomm flagship Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with Adreno 630 GPU.

The Xiaomi flagship is backed by 6GB or 8GB RAM and 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage respectively. The memory can be further expanded up to 256GB via an additional microSD card.

In terms of optics, Poco F1 comes with a dual rear camera setup offering a combination of 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel secondary camera and a 20-megapixel selfie camera.

Poco F1 sports a USB Type-C 1.0 reversible connector with a hybrid dual SIM tray backed by a non-removable Li-Po 4,000 mah battery. The smartphone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with a special Poco customised MIUI 9.6 skin on top. Starting at just Rs 17,999, Poco F1 is capable enough of beating some of the top flagships in the market at less than half the price.

OPPO Reno 10X Zoom

The newly launched OPPO Reno 10X Zoom edition has been making news since launch. The main USP is its triple rear camera setup including a staggering 10X zooming technology. On top, the smartphone features a 6.55-inch Full HD+ display without any notch. The company has used a special kind of pop up sensor which works sideways.  Up front, there’s a 13MP selfie camera lens hidden inside the fin-styled pop-up module.

Coming to optics, OPPO Reno 10X Zoom edition features a primary 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor at the back. It’s a three camera system comprising of a 8-megapixel telephoto secondary camera and another 13-megapixel periscope-styled zoom tertiary shooter.

The 10X hybrid zooming technology works fine and mixes up with the versatile camera setup. Under the hood, the system runs on the latest Snapdragon 855 chip coupled with 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage. Black Shark 2

The newly launched Black Shark 2 packs in a punch at under 40,000 bucks. It’s a gaming beast and it packs in all the other important features including design, camera and overall usability. The Xiaomi-backed Black Shark didn’t leave any stone unturned with the second generation Balck Shark 2. In spite of being a gaming smartphone, the company has added all the other top features to make it an all-rounder.

At the back, Black Shark 2 comes with a dual rear camera setup including a primary 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 unit paired with a 13-megapixel telephoto lens.

Up front, the smartphone comes with a 20-megapixel front camera. It runs on the latest flagship processor, the Snapdragon 855 SoC with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB ROM. OnePlus 6T

The last-generation OnePlus smartphone has seen a massive price drop, the steepest ever, making it a worthy buy now. OnePlus 6T is now available at the lowest ever price in India. OnePlus 6T is now selling at Rs 27,999 for the base model at the Amazon Fab Phones Fest with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model.

The top model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is also available at a discounted price at Rs 31,999.

OnePlus 6T comes with the same 6.4-inch display as OnePlus 7, the last generation Snapdragon 845 SoC, in-display fingerprint sensor, and 3,700mAh battery. Google Pixel 3A

The recently launched Pixel 3A seems a bit overpriced, but still is a solid camera phone at under 40,000 rupees. Pixel 3A is priced at Rs 39,999, available via Flipkart. Google is offering assured three years of software upgrades with timely monthly security patches, making it the best smartphone under Rs 40,000 in terms of rear camera performance and software experience.

Google Pixel 3A runs on Android 9 Pie, powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM, Adreno 615 GPU and 64GB of storage.

The Pixel 3A features a 5.6-inch full HD+ display, packing in a 12.2-megapixel dual pixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and OIS. The smartphone is backed by a 3,000mAh battery supporting 18W wired fast charging technology. The battery can run for a day on a single charge.

Vivo V15 Pro

The official Vivo smartphone from the recent edition of IPL comes with a rear three camera system including a 48MP primary lens. The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 675 processor with up to 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage starting at Rs 26,990. The device comes with a pop-up sensor to offer a full-screen design technology backed by an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The Vivo V15 Pro uses a Samsung ISOCELL GM1 48MP sensor and not the Sony IMX 586 sensor. The smartphone uses pixel binning technology to transform the standard 12-megapixel resolution photos to 48MP pictures. It’s the same technology uses by Xiaomi Redmi Note 7S.
