Indian Railways Announces New Timetable: 8 Major Changes In Train Timings, Route You Should Know

Effective July 1st, Indian Railways has announced new timetable, which will cover all the divisions, pan-India.

Some major changes in train timings and routes have been announced, which will impact more than 300 trains.

Here are the 5 major changes which you should be aware of:

  • Northern Railway has reshuffled timings of 267 trains, whereas the Western Zone has reshuffled the timings of 24 trains.
  • New Delhi-Chandigarh-New Delhi and New Delhi-Lucknow-New Delhi routes will now get two new Tejas Express trains
  • Northern Railways has altered the departure timings of 148 trains: While 93 trains have been preponed, 55 trains have been postponed.
  • Northern Railways has also altered the arrival timing of 118 trains: 57 trains will now start early, whereas 61 trains will now start late.
  • A major extension of four trains has been announced: Dehradun-New Delhi Nanda Devi Express will now travel upto Kota Junction, the Aligarh-Moradabad passenger will now travel upto Gajraula, the Ambala-Amb Andaura DEMU will now extend upto Daulatpur Chowk and the New Delhi-Ludhiana Shatabdi Express will now ferry passenger upto Lohian Khas.
  • Allahabad-New Delhi-Allahabad Humsafar Express will now travel for 4-times a week, up from 3-times a week currently. Whereas the important New Delhi-Ludhiana-New Delhi Shatabdi Express will now travel for only 2-days, down from 5-times a week currently.
  • In the Western Zone too, some major changes have been announced. The following trains will now have a changed timing: Mumbai-Pune Sinhagad Express (11009), LTT-Manmad Express (12117), Mumbai-Nagpur Sewagram Express (12139), Mumbai-Chhapra Antyodaya Express (15102), Mumbai-Kanyakumari Express (16381), LTT-Lucknow AC Express (22121), Mumbai-Gorakhpur Antyodaya Express (12598), LTT-Faizabad Express (22103), Kolhapur-Mumbai Koyna Express (11030)
  • Central Railways too have announced some big changes. Total journey time of 29 trains has been decreased by 20 minutes. Solapur-Kolhapur Express will now take 65 minutes less to cover the journey, whereas Kolhapur-Solapur Express will now take 125 minutes less travel time.
  • Overall, 10 Express trains in the Central Zone will now take 10 to 30 minutes less time to travel, whereas 30 passenger trains will now take 5 to 35 minutes less to travel and complete the journey. 
  • South Central Railways has reduced the time travel of 40 trains, and altered the arrival/departure timings as well.

The timetable, which is called Trains At A Glance 2019 – 2020 can be bought from the IRCTC website by paying Rs 70 + delivery charges and GST. The same can be bought from the Railway Station as well.
