Xiaomi was earlier reported to be working on a 64MP camera phone, and amid rumours, it has been finally confirmed. The MIUI camera app confirms that there’s an upcoming Xiaomi smartphone in the making with a 64MP camera.

According to the new report, it’s still in the development phase, and it will take some time.

The company is now busy with its latest Redmi K20 series. It also launched rebranded K20 smartphones in some markets under Mi brand as Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro. In India, the names would remain the same and will launch as Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro.

The smartphone may launch under the Redmi brand, and then may get a rebranded version under Mi series.

Xiaomi 64MP Camera Phone: What’s In The Box?

Apart from the camera specifications, nothing much is out in the air. The new report confirming the upcoming Redmi 6MP smartphone suggests that the smartphone would use 64MP ultrapixel mode to take up the best shots. It was spotted using the same mode within the company’s MIUI Camera app.

The in-system camera app has also been upgraded to the latest MIUI 10.

Coming back to the 64MP Redmi device, the report has strings from the developer citing 64MP Dual Camera system. The same tag has also been used for the watermark on images.

Currently, there’s no 64MP smartphone available commercially in the market, and Xiaomi could be the first to use it. Samsung is also working on a similar smartphone camera, and may launch it by next month.

Redmi 64MP Camera Phone: What’s Good With 64MP Camera?

The 64MP camera sensor will help the Xiaomi smartphone to produce the best of images. The sensor will help to capture low-light images in the best of lighting. Samsung will also be using Pixel binning technology to create 64MP images with Tetracell and Isocell Plus.

The 64MP camera sensor supports real-time HDR up to 100-decibel and a dual conversion gain.

This will help the Redmi 64MP camera smartphone to produce rich hues. The colour accuracy will be far batter and the noise will be minimised. The sensor will also allow the smartphone to include phase detection auto-focus technology and full-HD recording at 480 frames-per-second (FPS).

So, the sensor can be used to shot some smooth cinematic slow-motion videos at 480fps.

The Samsung 64-megapixel ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor is going to be used in Samsung Galaxy A70s, and probably will be the first smartphone to use a 64-megapixel camera sensor.

Xiaomi too will use the 64-megapixel ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor, and maybe before Samsung does. So not Galaxy A70s, but the Redmi smartphone could become the first to use a 64MP sensor, the same Samsung 64-megapixel ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor.

Redmi 64MP Camera Phone India Launch: Will It Come To India?

Xiaomi will probably launch under the 64MP smartphone under Redmi the country. Xiaomi doesn’t bring any top smartphones to the country, but Redmi smartphones will come to India after the China launch. The company is yet to reveal the details, and the launch seems imminent.

The 64MP camera phone could come under a new series, as the new independent brand is looking to expand aggressively.

Samsung Galaxy A70s is supposed to launch in the third quarter, and the Resdi smartphone with the 64MP camera may land up first, making Xiaomi the first company to launch a 64MP smartphone. If it’s launched under the Mi series, the smartphone may not arrive here.

Xiaomi India hasn’t shared any information, neither the parent company. So, we will have to wait for more details. The Redmi 64MP camera phone would launch a few weeks after the China launch, though the exact timeline is not known yet.

If things go right, the 64MP camera phone from Xiaomi could launch in the third quarter, both in India and China.
