Amazon Most Attractive Employer In India; Only Two Indian Firms Feature In The Top 10 List!

Jeff Bezos owned e-commerce giant, Amazon is the most attractive employer brand in the country followed by Microsoft India and Sony India according to the list released by the Human Resource firm Randstad Employer Brand Research (REBR) 2019.

By looking at the list, it seems that foreign companies are considered as a far more attractive place to work by Indian employees as there is just two Indian firm featured in the list of the Top Employers Brands in the country.

The survey covered 75 percent of the of the global economy with 32 countries participating in the research with more than 2,00,000 respondents worldwide.

Google India has not been featured in this list as it was featured in Randstad’s “Hall of Fame” category after securing the top spot for three years from 2015.

For Indian Employee, Top Factor For Choosing An Employer

The top drivers for the Indian workforce while picking an employer are Salary And Employee Benefits, Job Security, and a Pleasant Work Atmosphere.

Amazon has bagged the top position with a great score on financial health, utilization of the latest technologies and an impressive brand reputation for itself over the years.

The company provides a livelihood for more than 50,000 direct and indirect employees (with initiatives such as Amazon Flex) in India and has been constantly improving and expanding its operations over the past 5 years.

It has invested around $5 billion in India on Infrastructure, Technology, and Innovation.

India’s Craze Over MNCs Over Startups

India despite being the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem and providing various employee benefits to attract potential employees, still could not secure a place on the list.

For instance, Zomato recently announced 26 weeks of paternity leave.

But despite these efforts, only negligible 9% prefer to work in startups also these startup struggle with attrition levels with a range between 50% and  80%, according to industry research estimates.

As opposed to the startups, 55% of Indians preferred to work in Multi-National Companies (MNCs) due to stronger financial health, more secure job and more career progression opportunities that are offered by these employees.

Breakdown Of Sectors Preferred By Indian Workforce

The survey also observed that Indian workforce, around 67% preferred  companies operating in IT, ITeS and Telecom sector, FMCG and e-commerce was preferred by another 67%, followed by (66%) for automotive and (65%) for BFSI
