Samsung seems to be on a roll. Soon after launching two new budget smartphones in the country, the South Korean tech giant is now working on a new variant of its successful Galaxy M30. The company has already filed a rolling display petition, and even the launch date of Note 10 is out.

The next generation Galaxy Note will come with a similar punch-hole display as its S10 series.

The new youth-focused Samsung M series proved to be a huge success in the country, and the company recently added a new member to the series, Galaxy M40. It packs in the punch-hole design on a budget backed by flagship-level features.

Samsung Filed Patent For A Rolling Display

After a foldable display, Samsung is now working on a rolling display. The company has filed a new patent for a smartphone with a rollable display at the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO). The smartphone with a flexible display can be rotated anbe pulled out, thereby creating a bigger screen surface.

The rollable display will use a slider mechanism to extend. The bigger surface will offer a bigger screen where the upper part will have the selfie camera and earpiece.

The additional rollable screen will remain inside the phone. It will move when the display is rolled in and out.

The company has already had a big disaster with a foldable display. The company is trying something new, and it should be appreciated. But to work on this at a commercial scale on this could be highly complicated.

This is not the first tech under rollable display technology. LG recently introduced the first rolling OLED TV at CES 2019 earlier this year. LG is also working on a similar technology for a smartphone.
