Does a TikTok phone makes sense?

Bytedance is a popular brand, especially because of its brainchild app, TikTok, and now there is definite news that Bytedance is looking to launch its own smartphone as well.

It was only last week when Bytedance revealed its plans of working with T-Series to launch its own music streaming app in India and now this!

What will this smartphone by Bytedance be like? Read on to know all the details about this new initiative by Bytedance.

A Smartphone by Bytedance

After creating a whirlwind in the world of software and apps through TikTok and other apps, Bytedance is planning to enter the world of hardware.

Bytedance is venturing into the smartphone segment soon, and the Beijing based company is planning to have all the apps developed by the company to be inbuilt into the phone. Some of these apps would be TikTok, Toutiao, BuzzVideo, Vigo Video and more.

There is no official announcement of the phone by Bytedance yet, but a report has confirmed this news. This report also states that Bytedance founder Zhang Yiming “has long dreamt of a phone with Bytedance apps pre-installed.”

However, Smartisan doesnt have much to deal with the said ‘education business’, so the news reports about Bytedance working on a smartphone might be true.

Allegedly, the company has acquired the some patents from the company Smartisan and some of its employees too. However, when the company talked about this, they said that this deal was being done to “explore the education business.”

Bytedance’s Smartphone in India

The Chinese smartphone brands, such as Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi have been a great hit in the smartphone market of India, and we wonder if Bytedance’s new smartphone will be another addition to that.

Bytedance has not failed to make headlines in the market with the help of the controversy created by TikTok being banned in various countries.

Analysts say that the possibility of the smartphone by the app developer being a hit is less as Bytedance lacks the necessary experience and advantage in supply chain.

Jia Mo, an Analyst at Canalys says, “If they target only the niche market, maybe they have a chance by attracting niche customer groups through certain pre-installed software.”

Will this new phone by Bytedance match the competition that already exists in the smartphone market by big brands like Vivo, Oppo, Huawei, OnePlus and others?
