OnePlus 7 Pro: Unboxing
The color red, which has been adapted by OnePlus for its branding is splashed everywhere, as we started unpacking the reviewer’s unit.
A crisply designed Reviewers Guidebook is the first thing which greets us, but we will not review the smartphone based on that. We will reveal what we actually find.
We disocver Bullet Wireless Earphones and a cool looking Car Charger as well, which are part of the overall package which comes with OnePlus 7 Pro.
And then, sitting pretty underneath that, we find the actual unit.
Excitement is building up!
OnePlus 7 Pro: What’s Inside The Box?
OnePlus has decided to include an innovative protective case for the smartphone, which was quite an intelligent decision. Since the phone has Gorilla glass on both the side, a protective case was required. (We were surprised to find that OnePlus 7 Pro has Gorilla Glass 5, when Oneplus 6T had Gorilla Glass 6.)
But what impressed us was the quality of this case. Quite solid, in fact, yet flexible. Since gorilla glass covers both the sides and fingerprint magnet exists, the user need to use the case, and this is part of the overall package.
Some stickers, documentation are present, and along with that, the new 30 Watt Warp Charger, which has replaced the dash charger.
OnePlus had introduced this Warp Charger for the first time with OnePlus 6T McLaren edition, and this charger can significantly reduce the charging time.
A red USB Type C wire is also present, along with the SIM Ejector tool.
OnePlus 7 Pro: The First Impressions
And finally, the reveal: The shining, elegant OnePlus 7 Pro stares right into us.
Impressive and quite a piece of art.
Weighing just 206 grams to precise, OnePlus 7 Pro doesn’t seem heavy at all, when you hold it.
The enigmatic nebula blue color took our breath away, as this strange, mysterious blue radiated a very interesting shine – Something which was new to us.
The shape, the body, and structure of this phone have been designed with care. You can just feel it, right there.
Full marks to the aesthetics part of this new flagship from OnePlus, because when you hold it, it radiates power. The build is sturdy, yet it just fits into your palm, smoothly like a drive on an empty highway: Without any bumps, consistent and solid.
External Body & Dolby Stereo
The phone doesn’t have the 3.5 mm audio jack, and that was expected as well. But it will be missed by traditional music lovers. Wireless earphones can compensate a bit, but 3.5 mm is legacy.
Besides that, rest everything exists: In the bottom, we can find SIM Card tray (which has dual SIM slots), USB Type C port, microphone and stereo speaker grill to accommodate the Dolby stereo speakers. We found the sound coming out from these speakers pretty immersive, and impressive.
The top side has a slot for pop-up selfie, and has been placed with care. But after experiencing the powerful performance, and the elegant design, pop-up camera becomes another feature, not the USP of this phone.
The right hand side also the alert slider, which means user-experience has been thoroughly examined and implemented.
Display & Camera
The phone has a rear-camera set-up, the highlight of which is 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor, which is accompanied with 16 Mega Pixel sensor with 117 degree of ultra-wide angle. An 8 MP camera completes the trinity.
The front has a pop-up selfie camera, with Sony IMX471 sensor and some value-addon features such as HDR, Screen Flash, Face Retouching, and Time-Lapse. Selfie lovers will have a good time with this pop-up selfie, and the images coming out are good.
Full marks to the camera department as well.
The display is something which needs to behold: Zero notch screen gives it an upper hand, and the bezels are pretty thin. 6.67-inch Fluid AMOLED QHD+ display is mesmerizing and impressed us with its clarity and color quotient.
90 Hz of refresh rate translates to seamless, smooth transitions while playing games or watching movies or watching GIFs. In short, the pretty high-quality display has been empowered with
The facelock mechanism is one of the fastest we ever experienced in our history, and the mask failed to unlock the phone. This, despite the fact that the pop-up selfie needs to be turned on everytime for unlocking phone via facelock.
We can safely say that at this point of time, facelock mechanism of OnePlus 7 Pro is the best.
Processing Power
OnePlus 7 Pro is powered with Snapdragon 855 processor coupled with Adreno 640 GPU, and we had received the highest variant: 12 GB RAM and 256 GB external memory.
The performance actually blew us away. We tested out Fortnite, PUBG and some other heavy games, and the results were good, completely flawless performance. We tested out AnTuTu score, and the result was 372,412, which was quite impressive.
It seems speed is the foundation based on which OnePlus 7 Pro has been established, and they clearly made a new benchmark here.
Price & Overall Verdict
Oneplus 7 Pro price starts at Rs. 48,999 for the 6GB RAM/ 128GB variant, which will only have the Mirror Grey color.
You will need to shell out Rs. 52,999 for the 8GB RAM/ 256GB variant, which will be available for all color variants.
The price of the top-end variant is Rs. 57,999 with 12GB RAM/ 256GB, and is available only in Nebula Blue color.
We will wait for the full review of the smartphone, but at this price range, OnePlus has delivered a flagship killer. Absence of 3.5 mm audio jack and wireless charging are the only two aspects, which we dearly missed.
But overall, OnePlus 7 Pro impressed us, and stunned us on some levels: It takes you beyond speed, in a magical world.
