Amazon Will Fire 1300 Employees & Use Automation For Packaging Goods: Humans Not Required Now?
Robots vs mankind, now that is a fight going on since forever. With robots taking over a lot of professions, the employed class is constantly wondering which profession will be hijacked by the automation next.
There was a report that said robots will not be replacing humans, but the present evidence is quite on the contrary and totally refutes such claims.
Flipkart has already employed a whole army of 100 robots in its delivery hub, which led us to wonder if this will lead to unemployment in Bengaluru. Raymond, the popular textile company followed suit, and put to use robots in place of 10,000 employees in its industry.
Next in line is the online e-commerce giant, Amazon, which has decided to assign the work of employees to robots, which will result in the loss of jobs for thousands of people.

Amazon Hires Robots to Replace Employees
This is not the first time that Amazon has made use of technology in its operations. Scanning the goods on the conveyor belt, and putting them in boxes which are customized for every item, is being done by technology and automation in the warehouses of Amazon.
Amazon has discretely hired robots to do the work of employees, the specific work being boxing up orders of customers. The company is planning to install two machines at dozens of warehouses, that will do the work of about 24 people at each warehouse.
1300 People To Lose Employment
As per reports, more than 1300 people will face the axe in 55 US fulfillment centers for standard-sized inventory. Amazon intends to make up for the cost across a span of two years as the machine will cost $1 million per machine and additional operational expenses too.
A spokesperson of Amazon said, “We are piloting this new technology with the goal of increasing safety, speeding up delivery times and adding efficiency across our network.”
But what about the people who will lose their jobs?
It is clear that Amazon has decided to embrace automation without a care about its employees and the already dwindling rate of employment. Soon, other companies, brands, manufacturing industries will be in line, adapting to this same technique of employing automation to replace their employees.
