Whatsapp to End its Service for these 10 Mobile Phones and OS by Feb 1, 2020

If you’re still using a Windows phone in 2019, you might better read this, as the most popular instant messaging platform in the world, Whatsapp is all set to cease its services for all Windows phone by the end of this year, along with a list of phones and OS mentioned further in the article, by the end of this year and Feb 1, 2020. Whatsapp’s Take on Ending its Support

Whatsapp is ending support for old and obsolete operating systems. By ending support, Whatsapp will no longer release bug fixes, updates and add new features on the platform, in-line with its Lifecycle policy. Windows 10 Mobile version 1709 (released October 2017) was the last release of Windows 10 Mobile. iOS 7 and Android 2.3.7 are from 2013 and 2010 respectively. Windows Phone have 0.28% mobile OS market share against Android’s 74.85%.

The people still using these older phones are likely seniors, the speed and flexibility of newer operating systems is invariant for them. Whatsapp is encouraging users to shift to a newer technological by purchasing phones which can be up to date with futuristic technical updates.

Whatsapp to End its Support on These Devices:

After Microsoft’s recent announcement to end support for Windows Mobile devices after December 10, Whatsapp followed the suit by announcing that it would end its support for all Windows Phone operating systems after December 31, 2019, post which the users won’t be able to create new accounts, or re-verify them. WhatsApp will release it last and final update for the Windows platform in June this year and will be continue operating for the same by the end of this year.

Some of the operating systems and handsets that have already been proved obsolete by Whatsapp are:

Post Feb 1, 2020, Whatsapp will end its support for

  • Android versions 2.3.7 and older
  • iPhone iOS 7 and older

With the update of its ‘support for operating systems page’, Facebook-owned Whatsapp is down the line with some major reform schemes.
