Hyderabad Airport features in top 10 global list
According to a survey conducted by AirHelp, Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport has been ranked as the world’s eighth best. This is the only airport to be featured in the top 10 list of best airports in the world.
1st position has been snatched by Hamad International Airport in Qatar for the second year in the row followed by Japan’s Tokyo and Greece’s Athens International airports while Lisbon Portela Airport in Portugal has been ranked as the worst.

- Service Quality (accounting to 60% of the score)
- On- time Performance (accounting to 20% of the score)
- Food and shopping options (accounting to 20% of the score)
US Airport were seen lagging behind in the list with Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport being highest-rated out of them all, securing a position of 34th place among 132 around the world.Whereas, Newark Liberty Airport securing the lowest spot, at 116.
According to Henrik Zillmer, AirHelp’s chief executive officer, one of the major problems is weather related delays that cause huge problem for American Airways compared to European Airways.
Contrary to the US, the sunny weather at Athens International Airport which resulted in fewer delays have lead them in the top of the AirHelps’ Ranking.
Problems Faced by Airports
- With rapid increase in the global tourism, Congestion continues to be the biggest problem faced by the airports.
- According to Zillmer, many airlines need to improve is their claim-processing operation, which wraps into the mission of AirHelp’s
Zillmer’s hoping that rankings like this can shed light on how airlines are falling short and motivate them to step up service.

E-Visa A Huge Hit In India; 2.5 Million Passengers Used e-Visa
As per reports coming in, a huge jump in the e-Visa has been seen in India (almost five-fold) from 2015.
Major Updates Related To E-Visa:
- The e-Visa facility now covers 166 countries and foreigners can obtain online visa within 72 hours for travel related to tourism, business, health, medical attendant and conference purposes.
- Duration of e-Tourist and e-Business Visa have been increased from 60 days to 1 year
- Multiple entries are now allowed on these e-Tourist and e-Business visas.
- Foreigners can come to India for Internship at any time during his studies.
- Scope of tourist Visa has been expanded by including activities like short term and unstructured courses( upto six months duration)
Recently, government has made series of amendments in e-visa regime, liberalizing it further and making it more tourist friendly.
