Oneplus 6T or Oneplus 7?

OnePlus 7 is just a couple of weeks away, and Amazon India is offering OnePlus 6T at a steeply discounted price. The smartphone was discounted for the very first time this month, and again it will be available at a cheaper price at the Amazon Summer Sale.

So, should you buy the discounted OnePlus 6T or wait for Oneplus 7?

We answer it.

The current OnePlus flagship, OnePlus 6T was made available in India at a starting price of Rs 37,999 last year November. But, the much-loved smartphone will now be up for sale at a discounted price at the upcoming Amazon Summer sale.

Here we have covered a few points whether should you go for OnePlus 6T now or wait for OnePlus 7 instead.

Also, this would even help those who are confused whether they should upgrade to OnePlus 7 from OnePlus 6T or not.

Overall Upgrade

The upcoming OnePlus 7 is going to be a part of the OnePlus 7 series. There won’t be a single smartphone this time. While OnePlus 7 Pro will get the biggest of upgrades and features, the regular OnePlus 7 will come with a few minimal upgrades only.

The company has already been teasing the OnePlus 7 Pro features, while the regular model has hardly any mention.

This time, the company has put its main focus on OnePlus 7 Pro. The pro model is going to be costlier and will be priced quite high compared to OnePlus 6T. So, don’t expect a lot out of the regular OnePlus 7.

The Same Display

OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 7 will share similar displays. The upcoming regular OnePlus 7 smartphone will come with a water drop styled notch and an in-display fingerprint sensor. So, there won’t be any upgrade in terms of display size or quality.

The company may though add up a few more features, but essentially it’s expected to remain the same.

Upgraded Hardware

The new OnePlus will come with the current best Qualcomm chip, Snapdragon 855. The OnePlus runs on the old Qualcomm flagship chip, the Snapdragon 845. Again, you will hardly face any hassle in terms of daily usage and performance. Both are top-rated chips, and Snapdragon 845 still has a lot of power to pull off the hard tasks.

OnePlus 6T and the upcoming OnePlus 7 both is and will be capable of running all the heavy games and hardcore tasks with ease.

The Same Software

The upcoming OnePlus 7 series will run on the same Oxygen OS software based on the Android 9.0 Pie, and not the new Android Q. It’s the same as the OnePlus 6T. The smartphone though may come with priority access to Android Q, but OnePlus 6T too will soon get the full version once it’s out.

The next version of full Android OS will be available on both OnePlus phones in a few months.

With Android Q, the OnePlus smartphones will be able to run the new updates with options like gesture navigation, 3D touch and more. L

Though, by the time all the full version features are available, the OnePlus 7T will arrive by then.

Cameras

OnePlus 6T currently comes with a dual rear camera setup at the back featuring a 16MP primary Sony IMX 519 sensor coupled with a 20 MP camera Exmor RS depth sensor, capable of supporting a resolution of 4616 x 3464 pixels.

The regular OnePlus 7 model is again expected to come with a dual rear camera setup including the much-popular 48MP lens as its primary sensor.

Though, there are reports that only OnePlus 7 Pro may come with the 48MP lens only.

If OnePlus is not making any major change, there won’t be any visible difference between the quality of images clicked using the new OnePlus 7 or OnePlus 6T.

Pricing

The new OnePlus 7 series is going to be costlier. OnePlus 7 Pro will be quite expensive and even the regular OnePlus 7 may touch the 40,000 rupees mark in India. On the other hand, OnePlus 6T currently is available at a discounted price under Rs 35,000 making it a value proposition.

It does make a great buy at the moment, as OnePlus 6T won’t be such a huge upgrade over the regular OnePlus 7.

The current OnePlus 6T still has a lot in it to beat some of the bestselling premium flagships in the market.

The OnePlus 7 regular variant may see a slight rise in cost or may come at the same pricing as it’s current flagship pricing in India, but OnePlus 7 Pro is going to cost a lot high compared to its previous pricings.

Discounted OnePlus 6T Or OnePlus 7: Which One Should You Buy?

To sum up, OnePlus 7 won’t be some huge upgrade over the current OnePlus 6T. To be very honest, OnePlus 6T is still one of the best smartphones available in the market right now, and that won’t change in a few months or so. It still has a lot in it to beat some of the top flagships available now.

Given the big discount at the upcoming Amazon Summer sale, you should definitely grab it.

Unless, you don’t want to miss out on anything latest, you should wait for OnePlus 7. It will have a few minor additions and upgrades.

But OnePlus 6T still has some superior features available at a great price.

With Amazon Summer Sale offer and an additional discount on SBI cards, you should be getting the OnePlus 6T this May without much doubt. But again, this is strictly for those who plan to buy the regular OnePlus 7 and not the OnePlus 7 Pro.
