What’s in the Box?

The version of Redmi Y3 that we are unboxing is Elegant Blue in colour, and the variant is the 3 GB + 32 GB one. The box includes a sim card ejector, documentation, a soft TPU case, which is not quite up to the mark, a 10W travel charger, micro-USB cable and the device itself.

Camera

On the back panel, there is a dual camera set up, 12 MP + 2 MP. The selfie camera is what the Redmi Y3 prides itself on, which is of 32 MP.

The selfie camera works wonderfully, be it indoors, outdoors or in low light. The selfie camera also comes with multiple features, portrait mode, beauty mode, edge detection, to name a few. The selfie camera also shoots good quality video, and the confirms that the 32 MP camera will definitely be the show stopper of the phone.

Look and Feel

The phone is thick and feels quite bulky in hand. The phone is curved but fits nicely in the hand. However, if your hand is smaller than normal, the phone will look bigger than normal.

Given the polycarbonate body, which does attract fingerprints, a case is necessary.

On the lower side of the phone, there is a micro USB port, speaker grill, microphone. On the left, there is only the SD card tray, which is a dedicated slot. On the top side of the phone, there is a 3.5 mm jack, IR blaster, noise cancelling microphone. There are the power button and volume toggle keys on the right side of the phone.

Display

The phone comes with a 6.26” HD+ display with a resolution of 1520 x 720. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5, and a dot notch display.

The icons and overall display are not so bright, and if held in direct sunlight, the display is considerably dull.

Redmi Y3 has been given a P2i coating, which despite the lack of IP certification, but enables the phone to endure a bit of water, dust or anything else.

Battery and Processor

The battery is another feature Redmi Y3 is better at, which is 4000 mAh, which will probably last for a day and is considerably better than Redmi Y1 and Y2. Y3 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 632.

The phone’s AnTuTu scores are 104509, just like any other phone with Qualcomm SD 632.

PUBG fans can play the game on the phone at medium settings, but low settings work best. Other normal games also function without a hitch.

Features and Specifications

The phone has pretty much all the sensors, including physical gyroscope. The phone has both the fingerprint sensor and face unlock system. The fingerprint sensor is quite swift, but the face unlock is not as fast. However, the face unlock is quite secure, it did open with a face mask, but took quite efforts to unlock.

The phone also comes with an IR blaster, like all the other Redmi phones. Redmi Y3 also supports dual 4G VoLTE, which is another added advantage.

Audio and Visuals

The quality of the video is quite decent but didn’t show great results when tried outdoors. The audio, on the other hand, is ordinary and satisfactory.

Redmi Y3 has its pros and cons, but the one thing that is definitely above par is the 32 MP selfie camera. The phone might seem durable but the phone is definitely heavy.
