Amazon Planning Free Music Service; Airtel TV Is Now Available On Web Browsers

Amazon may soon launch an entirely free version of music service, which will aim to counter Spotify’s growing influence.

Meanwhile, Airtel has silently launched its mobile app-based on-demand entertainment service: Airtel TV, on web browsers. What does this mean?

Amazon’s Free Music Service

Sources close to Amazon has informed that very soon, a free music service will be launched by Amazon, whose primary aim would be to counter Spotify’s incredible growth.

This new free music service would be allegedly supported by ads, and there will be no premium plans for the same. Compared to Amazon Prime and Amazon Music, this free music service would have limited catalog and will cater to a specific genre and audience.

Other reports suggest that free music from Amazon would be only for Echo users.

Echo are smart speakers from Amazon, which gets connected with Alexa, which is the smart assistant from Amazon.

Music industry observers are viewing this development from Amazon as their desperate attempt to salvage some ground in the competitive online music streaming industry. Spotify is world’s #1 online music service with 116 million free users, and more than 90 million paid users.

On the other hand Apple Music, too, is one of the biggest players, with 56 million paid users, and more than 80 million free users.

Amazon hasn’t yet focussed on making their music services big, and as per some unconfirmed reports, Amazon has 20 million users of their music services. But it would be hard to pull out exact numbers, as Prime Music is bundled with their Prime services, and hardly promoted as a standalone product.

But now, things can change with Amazon planning to launch a free music service.

Airtel TV Is Now Available For Web Browsers

In order to counter Jio’s aggresive move in capturing cinema lovers and on-demand entertainment fans, Airtel has launched a web-version of their Airtel TV services.

Users can access this here: www.airtelxstream.in

This will enable existing and new users of Airtel TV to access streaming videos and content on their desktops and computers, via web browser.

Till now, Airtel TV was only available as a standalone app, which is accessible via mobile.

Users can simply use their existing login details on Airtel TV, and launch the web-version to watch on-demand entertainment on their desktop as well. The only drawback is that Airtel TV’s desktop version is not available for Live Streaming.
