Speculations about Realme U2? (In pic: Realme 2 Pro)

Last day the ex-Oppo sub-brand teased a new Realme U series device on it’s official Twitter account. While it’s being speculated to be next Realme U smartphone, the company may actually bring a higher storage variant of the current U1 model.

The video has a clip of how you won’t have to worry about memory from now.

Going back, Reame U1 made its debut roughly four months back in the last week of November.

The company didn’t confirm any new U smartphone in the teaser, neither said there’s a new higher storage variant coming up next. Though, the teaser confirms that there’s a new U device on the way.

New Realme U Smartphone: Realme U2 Or Realme U1 128GB Model?

Realme is known to bring in successors within a very short span. The company launched the first three generations of Realme series in less than 10 months. So, we can’t rule out the possibility of the second generation Realme U2 smartphone straightaway.

On the other hand, the video only emphasizes on the need of higher storage.

Realme U1 already is available in two storage options: 32GB and 64GB, each with 3GB and 4GB of RAM respectively. The company also very recently permanently discounted Realme U1. The smartphone is now available starting at Rs 8,999 for the base model with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.

The current Realme U1 top model with 64GB storage and 4GB RAM ships for Rs 11,999, exclusively via Amazon India.

The company previously have re-launched Realme C1 with a higher storage option with 32GB storage.

So, definitely there’s a possibility that the company may launch a higher storage capacity model of the current Realme U1. Though, interestingly both the Realme U1 models support additional storage via an external microSD card upto 256GB.

Realme U Smartphone Teaser: Can It Be Realme U2?

Coming to the Realme U2, the company is still yet to unveil Realme 3 Pro. The Realme 2 Pro successor will launch in the country later this month. The video teaser by Realme hints at a new U series smartphone, and there’s a slight possibility that it could be Realme U2.

Though, it’s still very early to comment, and we need more updates to confirm Realme U2.

Realme may launch a new 128GB storage variant of the already-available Realme U1 or might launch a new Realme U2.

A storage variant of the Realme U1 seems likely, as the company has already re-launched Realme C1 with upgraded storage in January. The same is expected with Realme U1 with 128GB storage and 6GB of RAM.

The smartphone uses Helio P70 chip, the flagship SoC from MediaTek. It already powers higher priced smartphones like Oppo F11 Pro and Vivo V15.

Realme U1 was the first smartphone to launch with MediaTek’s P70 chip. Later, the company also launched the third generation Realme 3 with the same chip starting at Rs 8,999.

Revisiting: Realme U1 Specs & Features

Realme U1 features a 6.3-inch Full HD+ water drop notch display with a handsome 90.8 percent screen-to-body-ratio. The smartphone runs on MediaTek Helio P70 processor backed by Color OS based on Oreo.

The company will soon be releasing the latest Color OS 6 based on Android 9 Pie.

At the back, Realme U1 comes with a 13MP + 2MP dual camera setup with an AI-powered 25MP Sony IMX 576 sensor with f/2.0 aperture up front. The whole package is backed by a 3,500mAh battery with AI Power master technology.

Update: Realme is not bringing Realme U2 now. The company has launched a new variant of the Realme U1 that comes with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, and not 128GB. The new 3GB/64GB model has been priced at Rs 10,999, available right away via Amazon India.
