IPL 2019: d2H Offers Lock-In Policy For Star Sports; All IPL Matches Are Free For Tata Sky, Airtel Users!

As part of their endeavor to provide more options for cricket lovers, during the ongoing IPL 2019 season, DTH operator d2H has introduced a new lock-in option for individual Star Sports channels.

What does this mean?

Meanwhile, as we reported earlier, Tata Sky and Airtel Digital users can watch the matches for free.

d2H Offers Lock-in Policy For Star Sports Channels

In their latest banner uploaded on their website, d2H is offering a 2-month lock-in policy for individual Star Sports channels, exclusively for their users.

The price of the channels selected is same: Rs 19 for all Star Sports Channels except Tamil language, whose price is Rs 17 per month.

Once opted in, the d2H user will need to pay Rs 19 * 2 or Rs 34 plus GST for these Star Sports channels:

Star Sports 1

Star Sports 1 HD

Star Sports Select 1

Star Sports  Select 1 HD

Star Sports 1 Hindi

Star Sports Select 1 HD Hindi

Star Sports 1 Telugu

Star Sports 1 Kannada

And Rs 17 plus GST for Star Sports 1 Tamil.

d2H users are required to call from their registered number to choose these channels under lock-in policy, or make the selection via their accounts online.

What Does Lock-in Policy Mean?

d2H is offering the users two options now:

1. Either they can choose a combo pack of Rs 265 a month, which will offer 197 channels, and this includes Star Sports channels as well.
2. Or else, they can simply add Star Sports channels for the IPL season.

Now, for option B, d2H is offering a lock-in period for 2 months, which has been planned to make sure that the IPL fans can watch the matches uninterrupted for two months.

In case there had been no lock-in policy, then after the end of 1st month, the user would have to again select the channel and add that to their account.

Hence, there is no monetary benefit for the IPL fan here, but convenience of choosing a channel for two months at the same go.

Watch IPL For Free On Tata Sky And Airtel Digital

Unlike d2H, which is charging Rs 19 plus GST (and Rs 17 for the Tamil language) for watching the IPL matches, Tata Sky and Airtel Digital are offering free access of Star Sports channels in all languages, for two months.

All they need to do is, select these channels into their current packs: Star Sports 1 Hindi, Star Sports 1 Tamil, Star Sports 1 Telugu, Star Sports 1 Kannada, and Start Sports 1 Bangla. Once added, there will be no extra charge for these channels, till May 20th, when IPL 2019 ends.
