Business tycoon Mukesh Ambani knows where to strike, and when to strike for maximum impact. And when it comes to Reliance’ new ecommerce venture, then the coordinates have been finalized.

Diwali 2019, the blockbuster phase for retail in India will be the time when Reliance and Jio will launch their ecommerce portal in India, and this should be given Flipkart and Amazon some sleepless nights.

Reliance Ecommerce Launching In Diwali, 2019?

As per reports emerging in Business Standard, it has been revealed that Mukesh Ambani plans to launch Reliance and Jio branded ecommerce portal during Diwali.

This information was shared by two sources who are close to the venture.

Why Diwali?

There are two reasons.

As per various estimates, Diwali-Dusshera is the time when 30% of India’s ecommerce shopping is done. Amazon, Flipkart, Paytm and literally every ecommerce portal launches deep discounts and trend-setting offers to lure customers.

Last year, 2 crore e-shoppers were expected to make online purchases of more than Rs 21,000 crore during the 3-week phase of Diwali and Dusshera.

Hence, it becomes very clear that this festive season is the time when maximum impact can be generated, for any new venture.

And the other reason is that, Reliance has been quite successful with this plan in the past. Jio was launched in the month of September, 2016, right before the Diwali season, and it worked big time.

Reliance Ecommerce Venture: Updates So Far

Reliance is pretty aggressive towards any new business they enter, and ecommerce is not different. This month, they have acquired two startups which were doing some exceptional work in the space of logistics and ecommerce software development.

Testing of their ecommerce app has already started in some pockets in Mumbai and Gujarat, and in January this year, reports emerged that Gujarat can be the first state where Reliance’ first ecommerce venture will start.

A unique combination of offline and online business model will be used, wherein the user can order a product online, which will be delivered via nearest kirana stores. And the most interesting aspect of this whole business model will be Jio factor and the integration of Reliance Retail into it.

Jio users will be able to seamlessly use ecommerce services, as it will directly embeded with MyJio suite of services. Payments can be made via Jio Wallet, and this way, a complete ecosystem of Jio products will be offered to the end-user.
