Jio Gigafiber Launch delayed?

Speculations are rife regarding Jio Gigafiber’s commercial launch in India. Although no confirmed news has come in, but analysts from various news portals are speculating on the possibilities.

After all, Jio had promised that the rollout of Jio Gigafiber will start from March, 2019.

Meanwhile, as per recent Netflix ISP Index, Jio has lost some speed, but compared to other ISPs in India, they are still #1.

Jio Gigafiber Launch in July?

“When you will provide Jio GigaFiber Connection to my home? I had registered 4 months ago. But not getting any update from your team. Have you started providing service in Chennai? I’m staying in OMR. Let me know if you have any confusion,”

“Hi i have Jio GigaFiber. When will we get Jio GigaTv and Jio smart home capabilities?”

These are some of the tweets which anxious Internet users have sent out to Jio team.

As we reported last month, and last year as well, the Jio Gigafiber launch is expected to happen in the month of March, pan-India. This was also shared by Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani.

However, as there has been news from Jio about the launch as of now, and it is already February 12th, we can safely assume that the launch has been postponed.

Most probably, JIo Gigafiber launch can happen in the month of July, when the AGM or Annual General Meeting of Jio shareholders will commence.

This means that the Jio Gigafiber launch has been extended by 4 months, at least.

Again, this is pure speculation as of now,

Jio’s RFS Rollout Begins

Meanwhile, as per some reports, Jio has kickstarted RFS rollout, which is “Area Ready for Sale”

This means that Jio representatives are contacting high-rises and apartments to deploy their optic fiber and start the services there.

This has been going on for some time now, but now, RFS has been rolled out in full force.

Both Multiple Dwelling Units (MDUs) and Single Dwelling Units (SDUs) are being contacted for establishing Jio Gigafiber’s network.

Jio Gigafiber has already been deployed in some areas of Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad, where users are enjoying 100 Mbps speed, and 1100 GB per month.

Rs 4500 refundable security deposit is being charged for starting the services.

Netflix ISP Index: Jio Speed Drops

Meanwhile, as per the latest results from Netflix’s ISP Index Ranking, Jio has lost speed.

While previously, Jio recorded 3.66 Mbps speed, this month, Jio was able to give 3.58 Mbps speed.

However, every ISP featured in the list have dropped the speed: 7 Star Digital, Airtel, SpectraNet, YOU Broadband and others too have reduced the speed.

Netflix ISP Index is basically a speed test conducted by Netflix to find out which ISPs provide the best speed for watching Netflix. Considering that this index only considers Netflix users, take the results with a pinch of salt.

We will keep you updated, as we receive more news about Jio Gigafiber and its launch!
