Huawei Y9 Debuts In India; Honor 10 Lite Packs A Punch [Launch In India, Specs, Price]

Huawei and its hit sub-brand Honor are on a roll in India. After confirming the launch of Honor View 20, the company will now unveil another two smartphones in the country in January: Honor 10 Lite and Huawei Y9.

Up next, Huawei Nova 4 is expected to be unveiled next month.

So, Huawei and Honor together has three smartphones to be launched in January. It will start with Huawei Y9 on January 10, followed by Honor 10 Lite and finally Honor View 20 on January 29. Huawei Y9 and Honor View 20 will be Amazon exclusive, whereas Honor 10 Lite will be available via Flipkart.

Huawei Y9 India Launch: Specs & Features

The Huawei Y9 is going to be the first Y-series device from the company in India. After Honor, Huawei is now focusing on its parent brand to expand in the budget market. The company till now has been pushing Honor phones primarily in the budget segment, and Huawei phones for the upper-margin market.

But with Huawei Y9, the company will now have it’s own latest mid-range smartphone to take on the likes of Xiaomi, Realme and Asus.

Huawei Y9 has a 6.5-inch Full HD+ display in an 19.5:9 aspect ratio, same as Honor 8X. The smartphone will be powered by an octa-core Kirin 710 ans upto 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage. At the back, Huawei Y9 will come with a dual camera setup featuring a 16-megapixel primary sensor coupled a 2-megapixel secondary depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture.

Up front, Huawei Y9 also features a dual setup comprising of a 13-megapixel primary shooter with f/1.8 aperture and a 2-megapixel secondary depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture.

The smartphone will run on EMUI 8.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo backed by a 4,000mAh battery and no fast charging.

Huawei Y9 India Price | Huawei Y9 India Launch

Huawei Y9 will be exclusive to Amazon India. The smartphone was initially launched in China in October as Huawei Enjoy 9 Plus and Y9 is the global variant. The Huawei Y9 India price will be same as Honor 8X. The 4GB RAM model is priced at RMB 1,499 (around Rs 15,350) and the 6GB RAM at RMB 1,999 (around Rs 20,450).

Huawei Y9 India price is likely to be fixed at around Rs 15,000 for the base variant, or maybe a little more.

Honor 10 Lite India Launch: Specs & Features

Coming to the next smartphone from the company, Honor 10 Lite is a lightweight version of the current Honor 10 flagship. The smartphone will come with a glass design and a water drop notch, dual cameras, Android Pie, GPU Turbo 2.0 and more.

Honor 10 Lite made its debut in China in October. The smartphone will come with a 6.21-inch Full HD+ water drop notch display and Kirin 710 chipset. It’s going to be the first Honor phone to ship with EMUI 9 based on Android 9.0 Pie in India. At the back, it will come with a dual camera setup featuring a 13MP primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor.

Up front, Honor 10 Lite will come with a a 24MP front-facing shooter backed by a 3,400mAh battery. Honor 10 Light has been launched in four colour variations in China: Gradient Blue, Gradient Red, Lily Valley White and Magic Night Black.

Honor 10 Lite India Price | Honor 10 Lite India Launch

Honor 10 Lite India launch is expected to happen on January 15. The smartphone will be priced similar to its predecessor Honor 9 Lite, around Rs 15,000. Honor 10 Lite currently is priced starting at CNY 1399 (around Rs 14,550) for the 4GB and 64GB model. The Honour 10 Lite India price for the base variant may stand at around 12,000 rupees.

In China, there are two other Honor 10 Lite model: 6GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB. In India, the company may bring another storage version, expected to be priced around 15,000 rupees.
