Jio Added 1.3 Crore New Users In September; Airtel, Vodafone-Idea Lost 1.1 Crore Users
Jio became the only telecom operator to add new users in the month of September, 2018.

Jio’s dominance is now unstoppable, and unprecedented in history. For the month of September, Reliance Jio was the only telecom which managed to add new users, while others lost their users.
Is this related with the new minimum recharge rule by Airtel and Vodafone-Idea?

Jio Only Telco To Add Users In September, 2018
As per fresh numbers from TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India), Reliance Jio managed to add 1.3 crore new customers in the month of September. This number is special because Jio was the only telecom operator which managed to add users in this month.
Rest every other telecom operator lost users. This is a pure win for Jio, and that too unchallenged.
At the end of September, Jio had total of 25.2 crore users.
Vodafone, Airtel Lost 1.1 Crore Users
While Jio managed to add new users, Airtel, Vodafone-Idea and others lost heavily.
Vodafone-Idea was the biggest loser, as 80 lakh users deserted them in the month of September. Airtel lost around 23 lakh users, whereas BSNL lost 5.5 lakh users.
Hence, the loss of users by Airtel and Vodafone meant direct additions to Jio. Pretty straightforward equations here.
Overall Telecom Users In India: Marginally Increased
Overall, there was a slight improvement in total number of telecom users in India: Now, total of 119.1 crore use a telephone phone in India, which is 0.2% more than August numbers.
If we talk only about mobile users, then the numbers increased by 0.21% to each 116.92 crore by the end of September.
Interestingly, in the fixed line telephone market, Airtel and Vodafone made some improvements, at the expense of BSNL, which has been losing their customers despite some amazing plans.
For the month of September, Airtel added 16929 new customers in fixed line telephony segment, whereas Vodafone added 7080 new fixed line connections. At the same time, BSNL lost 71,800 customers.
Minimum Recharge Rule Impact?
These numbers shared by TRAI belong to the month of September, whereas the new minimum recharge scheme was devised by Airtel, Vodafone-Idea in the month of October. Hence, it will be safe to say that the minimum recharge scheme had no impact on the numbers.
However, this is a bad news for Airtel and Vodafone-Idea, because now, as they are forcing users to recharge every month, they may witness more users ditching their services and opting for Jio as the primary telecom service provider.
