Realme 2 Pro vs Motorola One Power: Can Speed Defeat Battery?

The newly-launched Motorola One Power was a big surprise. Given its price and set of specifications, the Lenovo-owned company gave a shocker with its very competitive pricing after a long time. It’s almost after a year that Lenovo has priced a Motorola phone very aptly in the country.

But cut short to the happy period, within a week Realme launched its Realme 2 Pro, a mid-range killer starting at just under 14,000 rupees.

While Realme 2 Pro packs in looks, performance and some top features, Motorola One Power has a massive 5,000mAh battery, Android One and much more to look out for.

Whatwill happen if Moto One Power and Realme 2 Pro go head to head against each other? Let’s find out.

Realme 2 Pro vs Motorola One Power In-Depth Comparison

The Realme 2 Pro has three variants available in the market starting at Rs 13,990, while Motorola One Power has a single variant priced at Rs 15,999.

Design & Build

Motorola One Power comes with a metal and plastic body combination offering a sturdy built on the out. The smartphone is quite heavy and it feels premium in hand. On the other hand Realme 2 Pro has a polycarbonate body made to feel like glass and metal.

Both the smartphones feel sturdy, but the glass finish on Realme 2 Pro makes it look more premium, while Motorola One Power is more hardy. Both the devices are well built and offer a premium experience.

Display

The smartphones come with a notch at the top. One with the standard size and the other one in a water-drop shaped. Realme 2 Pro will come with a 6.3-inch Full HD+ 19.5:9 display with the water-drop notch having a screen resolution of 2340 × 1080 pixels. Realme 2 Pro offers an immersive viewing experience with very thin bezels and 409 PPI.

Motorola One Power on the other hand, offers a standard notch in an 6.2-inch Full HD+ 19:9 elongated display having a screen resolution of 2246 × 1080 pixels and 402 PPI.

Both Realme 2 Pro and Motorola One Power will offer a full view screen experience, but Realme 2 Pro with the shorter notch will stay ahead in terms of viewing experience.

Hardware & Performance

Realme 2 Pro is backed by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660, Adreno 512 GPU paired with up to 8GB of RAM. On the other side, Motorola One Power is powered by the Snapdragon 636  Adreno 509 GPU paired with 4GB of RAM.

Firstly, both the smartphones offer lag-free experience running all basic and moderately-heavy tasks, even with the casual games.

If pitted against each other, Realme 2 Pro comes with AIE (Artificial Intelligence Engine) that helps the device to optimize performance and battery. It will help the device to run smooth with heavy games and memory-heavy apps. Motorola One Power may lose out to Realme 2 straight on, but it can run through all the basic tasks with ease.

Storage

Realme 2 Pro has three storage variants available in the market, while Motorola One Power has a single storage variant. Realme 2 Pro has three versions: 4GB/64GB, 6GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB compared to the single storage variant of Motorola One Power: 4GB/64GB.

The memory can be expanded on both the smartphone via an external microSD card offering up to 256GB storage.

Software & User Experience

This is where the game changes for Motorola One Power. Motorola One Power has Android One running Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. So, you will get a clean stock android experience with promised version upgrades till Android Q and timely security patches from Google. It’s a clean UI with no bloatware offering a seamless user experience.

On the other hand, Realme 2 Pro has its own custom UI with a number of tweaks and shortcuts. You can even customise the shortcuts and the AI will learn how you behave on Realme 2 Pro. It runs on Color OS 5.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

Rear Camera

Realme 2 Pro has a rear dual camera system comprising of a primary 16 megapixel f/1.7 lens coupled with a 5 megapixel depth sensor. The smartphone can capture a lot of details in well-lit conditions and take above average shots in low light.

While Moto One Power has a 16 megapixel f/1.8 primary shooter coupled with an 5 megapixel depth sensor producing better colors.

Both the cameras produce good details, accurate colors and sharpness. But, Realme 2 has an upper hand edge with better details and stabilisation in videos.

Motorola One Powe has some issues with the bokeh and sharpness, but the company can fix it with an OTA update.

Front Camera

Motorola One Power comes with an 12 megapixel front shooter while Realme 2 Pro comes with a 16 megapixel shooter backed by AI based imaging capabilities.

Again, both the phones can capture decent shots with in-depth real time blur effects.

Battery

Motorola One Power is the clear winner in terms of battery capacity. The smartphone has a massive 5,000mAh battery compared to the 3,500 mAh battery on Realme 2 Pro. Well, obviously Realme can run easily for a day on a single charge, Motorola can run for a lot more.

Also, Motorola One Power supports Motorola TurboCharge fast charging and ships with a fast charger in the box. While, Realme 2 Pro supports fast charging, but does not ship with a fast charging brick.

Realme 2 Pro vs Motorola One Power: Verdict

Realme 2 Pro comes with immersive teardrop notch display, premium built, better performance, better camera, AI integration, and more storage variants. While Motorola One Power has a huge battery, solid built, Android One, above average cameras and a standard notched display.

The Realme 2 Pro 4GB/64GB version costs 2,000 less at 13,990, whereas the Motorola One Power is priced at Rs 15,999.

Definitely, Realme 2 Pro offers more value for money with a better processor, display and built. But, the only two reasons to pick Motorola One Power over Realme 2 Pro will be its battery (with the fast charger) and clean Android UI.

To sum up, both the smartphones are really good at their price points. But if we had to pick a mid-range smartphone for us, its going to Realme 2 Pro.
