The entry-premium OnePlus 6 flagship has beaten some of the top of the line flagships in terms of imaging optics. As per the latest DxOMark, the OnePlus 6 camera has scored 96 beating Apple iPhone 8 Plus and Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

The DxOMark test is done by calculating and combining multiple sub-scores across several imaging categories. The OnePlus 6 scored a whopping 96 in the DxOMark, ahead of higher-priced flagships like iPhone 8 Plus and Galaxy Note 8.

How DxOMark Test is Done?

The OnePlus 6 DxOMark test was one of the much awaited tests from DxOMark. The firm has now done a full camera review to reveal the OnePlus 6 DxoMark score, which is just short of the top flagships like iPhone X, Google Pixel 2 and Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S.

The OnePlus 6 DxoMark test has been done across Exposure and Contrast, Color, Autofocus, Texture, Noise, Artifacts, Flash, Zoom and Bokeh.

The OnePlus 6 has done exceptionally well in terms of darker lighting conditions, exposure and contrast. OnePlus 6 has outperformed some of the top smartphone cameras in autofocusing and different lighting conditions.

The OnePlus 6 DxOMark score is 96, a little short of iPhone X, Pixel 2 and Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S.

OnePlus has always maintained its reputation by offering one of the best cameras in their smartphones. Just like its predecessors, OnePlus 6 also feature a top of the line flagship camera. OnePlus 6 features a dual camera setup at the back consisting of a 16 megapixel OIS primary f/1.7 lens coupled with a secondary 20-megapixel f/1.7 lens.

The OnePlus 6 rear dual camera system comes with phase detection autofocus doubled with a twin LED flash. The smartphone can capture RAW images and record 4K videos at 30 or 60 frames per second. OnePlus 6 also supports 1080p slow-motion videos at up to 240fps.

In the OnePlus 6 DxOMark test, the OnePlus flagship has managed to perform well in terms of photo and video sub-score. The OnePlus 6 DxOMark score ended at 96 in the photo and video department combined. In terms of photo, OnePlus 6 managed to score 100, while in the video department, the score came down to 87.

The top scores mainly attributed to the performance of autofocus of OP 6, which DxOMark has termed to be very prominent, fast and accurate.

Latest OxygenOS 5.1.9 Will Bring More Camera Improvements

Since the launch of OnePlus 6, the company is steadily working on how it can improve the camera performance. After the latest score of 96 from DxOMark, OnePlus is reportedly working on a significant camera update for its latest OnePlus 6 in OxygenOS 5.1.9 update.

The Google Lens functionality will come to the OnePlus 6 camera app with a faster and accurate autofocus, and more vivid color production in multiple conditions. The company will also be further improving the clarity, dynamic range, edge detection, overall focusing speed and color accuracy.

The new integration of Google Lens in the OnePlus 6 camera app will help to surface information about the objects with the help of Machine Learning and the camera will  also provide relevant search tags from now on.
