BSNL Now Offers Bulk SMS Plans; Airtel Packs 5GB In Rs 98 Prepaid Plan!

2018 is witnessing an unprecedented surge in sub-Rs 100 prepaid packs for various users, targeting both voice and data users. In the last few days, every telecom operator has launched one or the other sub-Rs 100 prepaid pack.

Now, Airtel has launched another solid pack, targeting only data users.

However, the pricing dynamics doesn’t make sense here. We will soon explain why.

Meanwhile, BSNL is now targeting some deep niches, which had been almost ignored by private telcos. Yesterday, they have launched bulk SMS plans, which have been surprisingly introduced at much cheaper rates.

Airtel’s Rs 98 Plan Doesn’t Make Sense!

For users in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana circle, Airtel has launched Rs 98 prepaid plans, which packs 5 GB 4G/3G data, valid for 28 days.

This way, Airtel is offering 1 GB at Rs 19.6.

There are no voice minutes in this plan, and no SMS pack as well.

Now, this doesn’t make any sense, because earlier this month, Airtel had launched Rs 93 prepaid pack which offers 1GB per day for 28 days, along with unlimited voice calls as well.

This way, per GB cost, comes at Rs 3.32, along with unlimited calls.

The only downside of this plan is 1 GB per day limit, whereas Rs 98 pack for 5GB has no daily cap.

Maybe this can be used as a data booster pack, for which Jio charges Rs 21 per GB, with a validity of 60 days.

Nonetheless, Airtel’s latest salvo triggers a new price war, in the sub-Rs 100 niche.

BSNL’s Cheap Bulk SMS Plans Launched

Meanwhile, state carrier BSNL has launched a slew of plans for bulk SMS, targeted for businesses.

There are mainly two categories of their target audience:

  • Business aiming to send promotional SMSes
  • Transactional SMSes like OTPs and account updates like banks

The following types of bulk SMSes categories have been planned by BSNL:

  • Individual SMS
  • Bulk Messaging
  • Instant Messaging
  • Flexible Messaging
  • Flexible SMS Schedule
  • Automatic Schedule.

The exact pricing has not been revealed, as the plans are customized based on the business requirement. It seems there are no setup charges, no caller ID cost or license cost.

Interested parties are encouraged to contact BSNL’s customer service directly.
